i am seriously thinking of buying a used bass tracker grizzly brand boat with a 40 horse motor. will these boats hold up on a big lake such as seminole? is a forty horse motor big enough? right now i am just starting waterfowl hunting and am not trying to spend alot less than 7 grand (hopefully). is their a better boat for the money? any info appreciated!

Re: info about a boat?

If you are wanting the boat exclusively for waterfowling you may want to consider a mud motor rig of some sort. If Seminole is anything like the waters i hunt you will be glad you did when you hit the hydrilla and mud flats. . . and i believe Seminole is much the same. You can find a nice rig for 7 grand that'll move you on across the water and dang near drive across asphalt.

Re: info about a boat?

A 17 foot boat with a 40 hp motor is more than adequate. If you're using it for waterfowling, you'll be doing a lot of boating in the dark when you don't want to go fast anyways. Like Covehnter said, 7 grand will buy you a nice rig and look into a mud motor if the boat is going to be used solely for waterfowling.
