Hmmmmm...I'm not sure about this. Can't imagine his chain of command allowing this. I think it will be cleared up in a hurry.

Re: Wounded soldier billed for bloodied body armor

After 23 years in the Navy I can see how this could happen. Not condoning it but even in the best run organizations (and I am not saying that our Gov't fits that) you have people that don't know their job and can't see the overall picture.

I would imagine that this is some lowly supply clerk who has been getting his/her butt handed to them on a daily basis for inventory by someone just up the chain of command that erred in their job somewhere.

I hope as Finn states this has been cleared up. If not I will discuss with the other retired military guys here at work at take care of it for him.

Didn't mean to sound like I was venting but .....

Exactly..I can see this initially happening, then being cleared.

The report said the Army did take care of it. The Lt said people sent him donations to cover his costs and he is donating them to a wounded soldier charity. grin.gif

He's not the first one to be charged for missing equpiment when he or others have been injured. It's not because they want their money back for damaged equipment, it's just a bureaucratic mixup that gets taken care of in the long run. Think about it, they probably have equipment coming up missing all the time from soldiers who weren't injured. It's all just a testament to the bureaucracy of our government and wanting to have umpteen number of signatures when one will do.
