My new baby! (pic)

After a suggestion by AJ and many answers to my .243 thread, I headed to a gunshow last weekend on a mission. I had enough money stashed back for a .243 and I wasnt leaving without one.

Long story short, I left about 2-hours later with a Ruger M77, heavy barrel .243. I headed straight to bass pro and picked up a bipod and a Redhead 6x18x50 Scope. The rings are actually to short to function (I have another set ordered) but I had to mount the scope to play and for a pic.

Ill mount the scope and sight it in this weekend! I cant wait! Im going to shoot some 100 and 200 yard groups. I picked up a box of Corelokt to see how they fair. This gun is really whats getting me into realoading! Its going to be a blast.... Anyway, here she is. Thanks for the advice AJ and gang.

Cool!!! So when are we going coyote hunting on this land you have access to?? grin.gif

I got my first kill the other day with my new .223. A crow at ~150 yards. Sweet little gun. Just got done floating the barrel, anxious to see if there's a change in accuracy.

What bipod did you end up with? I need to pick one up, but can't decide if a Harris is worth the extra change....

Looks good!! We need to go shooting sometime for sure!

I kick myself now but I passed up a Tikka .223 right off. The guy wanted just a little to much (or so I thought). I wanted to see what else was at the gun show. I should have went back to his table. I bet he still had it.

However, that being said, im happy with this critter! Ill get some pics up of the groups after I head to the range.

btw Ryan, we will get together pretty soon. I need to get a few calls and get this puppy sighted in. As soon as we plan our first outing ill let you know and you can head out with us.....

You might want to look into a Timney trigger to replace the stock Ruger parts. Once I replaced my trigger in mine the gun was much more fun to shoot.

Man thats an awesome tip! I grew up on a ranch hunting with the same old guns (not that there is anything wrong with that). I have been shooting either a 30-06, 30-30, .22lr, or various shotguns all of my life. This is a "Custom" gun to me.

I was going to start a thread later to see what I can do to/ for the gun! I have even been looking at different stocks even though this one is in mint condition! I will definately look into the trigger!
