Guest andymansavage
The Utah state governers tag auctioned for $156k last week. The tag allows the buyer to kill one buck and hunt any unit in the state from september 1st to december 31st of this year. The money goes to wildlife projects here in the state. So if any of you want to buy the tag next year, let me know and I'll get you the details. Andy

Hoyt03
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag you could have a guided hunt in every state for the entire season for that, then still have enough left over to buy all new guns...and then some. Thats just stupid
Guest andymansavage
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag Looks like it went to David Meyer, an eye doctor from Memphis, Tenn. He's the same guy that paid $80k for the tag last year. Andy
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag It's just a good way to raise money for the DNR. No one actually thinks the tag's value is that high. We do the same thing here in Texas for Desert Bighorn Sheep. It usually goes for around $150K too. Guest Colorado Bob
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag Texan-----IMo there is a HUGE difference in a mulie & a desert bighorn. Granted all the money goes to the DOW. But sheep hunters go bonkers over a desert bighorn----it would complete most of their slams. But a B&C muley is nothing to sneeze at either. booner1331
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag The common guy will not be able to hunt as a non resident soon. DNR's need to get a grip and realize all of us are paying all there bills
Tom2008
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag Yeah that is a lot. One of these years I will be going to Montana to hunt with my grandpa and uncle and the tags their cost way too much for a non resident. I mean over $350 for a buck tag and thats if you get drawn its just crazy.
rifleman25
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag If it included Doyle Moss as the guide, and I had the money, I'd consider it. I guess for now I am taking my chances in the draws. I'm affraid I might have near that much invested before I pull a tag for the "Arizona Strip", or the Kaibab. I have a good collection of preferance points started.

I don't know where they hunt, but the Missouri breaks are a great hunt, especially if you have about 18 inches of soft snow on the ground. Good luck on your hunt. When are you going? Most of Montana is a fairly easy draw. I have pulled tags more times than not there anyway.

elkoholic
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag A lot of states offer auctions like that, Montana included. It is more of a donation than anything else. Sure would be nice to be able to afford it though. Seems like many of our state game departments are in need of money and if some rich dude/dudette has more money than they know what to do with they might as well contribute, and maybe get a hunt of a lifetime along with it. slugshooter
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag What is the significance of being able to shoot 1 buck in Utah for the entire season that it is worth spending 156K for a tag. Is there only 1 Whitetail Buck in Utah, or is there no Whitetail hunting normally in Utah. I don't understand what makes it so great that spending that kind of money is even remotely worth it.
