Guest andymansavage
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag [ QUOTE ] What is the significance of being able to shoot 1 buck in Utah for the entire season that it is worth spending 156K for a tag. Is there only 1 Whitetail Buck in Utah, or is there no Whitetail hunting normally in Utah. I don't understand what makes it so great that spending that kind of money is even remotely worth it. [/ QUOTE ] Like has been said, it is more of a donation than anything, but there are some giant mulies around here. As for whitetails, we have a couple of herds, but they are usually shot on sight like other varmints. Andy
Guest BCBOY
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag The goal is to help out the deer herds and at the same time get to reap the benefits of taking an above average muley through an extended season. Many Governer's Tag holders end up with a B&C buck on the wall. The tag was auctioned off by the Mule Deer Foundation and that money will go directly into habitat conservation. So it essentially is a win/win situation.
Guest DesertTrophyHunts
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag I'm all for Gov Tags but its a very controversial thing. There are a tone of people that oppose Gov Tags and they will slam anybody that helps in the search for big deer for the person that bought the tag. I can see both sides but I am all for the tags, a lot of money is raised and the deer that are harvested are typically older age class deer. Rhino
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag I personally don't see a problem with the Gov Tags at all. If they can raise that much money for 1 tag from someone that has more $ than they know what to do with, go for it. After all it's programs like this that are designed to benefit the resource and at the same time may keep the price down on your own license and tag fees. SaskMan
Re: $156,000 utah deer tag Like Rhino, I see nothing at all wrong with someone spending that kind of $$ to help out with conservation and habitat. Are they sane????????Can't answer that but I agree that the auction has far more positives than negatives.
