taking in the field photos

Guys ,I'm just a guilty as everyone else here of taking bad pics at one time or another! But I would like to see all that change.I make a conscious effort to do the best of my ability to take clean pleasant pictures! I realize that we may not always have a camera with us in the field ,but once we get to one we can make an effort to find a bush or something nice for a background ,instead of the back of the truck or hanging in the barn or garage. If you like those kind of pictures that is fine, your choice ,but I love to see tastefully done picture in the field of any critter!

I've taken several pictures of the same hogs to show what I mean. you tell me what looks better!

Yep, I'm guilty too. It wasn't until I joined this web-site and started viewing other peoples pictures, that I decided to take a little more time with my own too. They just look so much better and 10 years down the road, they are nothing short of great memories, for passing around in the scrap book.

Re: taking in the field photos

Point well taken. cool.gif

This past year my buddy kind of looked at me weird when I said "OK, let's haul him out of there and get some nice field photos." crazy.gifconfused.gif

The deer I shot this year dressed at 223#, so to haul his butt in and out of the truck and back up again was a chore, but I'm glad I did it.

I think it's a matter of personal pride to take the best photos of my game as possible. I'd rather have no photo than what I consider a poor one. Congratulations to those of you that take the few extra moments to make a better photo.

Here's what I thought was a good shot of a buddy's 1st buck.

Re: taking in the field photos

I agree with you guys. In the field pictures are the way to go.

Like many of of you, I'm sure, you sometimes hunt alone and often there's no one around "in the field" to take a picture for you. With a lightweight, portable tripod and the timer feature on most camera's you can still get some decent shots. These are my turkeys from last spring, all taken in that manner.

Spring '05 #2. Probably would have been a better picture without the big chaw of Redman!

Spring '05 #3. My partner and I doubled up so I still had to take the picture with the timer.

Re: taking in the field photos

here are a few of my field photos, that is the only way I like it done!!

This one was taken at our hunting cabin but we still found a good background!

These ones are from my buck that I got this year bowhunting, we took quite a few pics at the spot the deer died, just wiped off the blood and the colors are great!

This one if from my first turkey last year! My 12 year old sister was with me on the hunt and took the pic right at the spot i shot the bird!

Then also when we take a deer we like to take a few pics with our timber in the background!
