RTF
I'm sure you all heard the radio communications between him and his crew chief. Was he right or wrong for telling them he was not coming in ?
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? Your at NASCAR's mercy even though I thought he was not in the wrong and did not do it to advance a position, it was to avoid a major wreck. NASCAR needs to go over video replay then make the call. I agree with Carl on what he did, he did nothing wrong!
VermontHunter
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? Carls reasoning was right,, but you and I know that he all mighty NASCAR Officals aren't going tochange their minds on a call,,, so he should have did his pass through.... Man did he get the shaft big time....
tedicast
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? I think Carl was right. If you saw his interview after he left the Nascar trailer, his attitude changed 180 degrees. I think he definately got a talking too big time in the trailer. I still think it was a bogus call by Nascar!
MUDRUNNER
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? I think NASCAR screwed up AGAIN.Carl was just trying make it by the pittingcars safely. When the NASCAR gods tell you to come down pit road for a penalty you better do it since you are at their mercy.I think he did the right thing, but I suppose rules are rules. IllinoisArcher
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? Carl WAS RIGHT it was either do that or cause "THE BIG ONE" He even ended up losing spots!
IowaDeerHunter
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? That was def. BS on NASCARS part. Carl should've just wrecked them, then what would NASCAR have said. They would've told him he should've went low and around them like he did. Of course by the rules it was an illegal pass, but sometimes they have to let things like that slide. Just plain dumb I think.
Valkrie1357
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? If he'd shot down Pit Road he'd of been OK. NASCAR is the One that is Out of Control. Just like Tony's warning to NASCAR about KILLING Someone. the Ball is in NASCAR's Court!!! I ususally don't like agreeing with Tony, But he Hit The Nail On the HEAD on this One!!!! They Let the Drivers Hide Draft Bumpers under the cars front ends. & then wonder why drivers are bump (CRASH)drafting. People Come to the Track to see the WRECKS. Fans think Green Flag Racing is Boring. Just Like the NASCAR Inspection AFTER QUALIFYING on the #48. How come they were able to find it after Qualifying. there were no changes made after Inspection. Again NASCAR, CAN'T EVEN CONTROL NASCAR!!!!!! These were their own inspectors that Goofed up. If they'd of Done there Job in the 1st Place, the #48 wouldn't even of made it through inspection???? NOW NASCAR WANTS TO SUPEND THE CREW CHIEF, Are they going to supend the INSPECTOR(S)????? Then after Qualifying, Someone who wasn't even on the RADAR SCREEN Wins the Pole, (not a favored son) So now they throw Him & His Car Under a Microscope????? Good JOB #31 Jeff Burton. Time For Me To Step Down From The Soap Box Now. NEXT???? #24, Go Fast, Turn Left.
Chrud
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? [ QUOTE ] Just Like the NASCAR Inspection AFTER QUALIFYING on the #48. How come they were able to find it after Qualifying. there were no changes made after Inspection. [/ QUOTE ] I believe that change was made after inspection. I think NASCAR needs to make a lighting system in the cars at plate tracks. As long as they are going to keep plates on them, you'll have huge groups of cars pitting together. Just have a button that the driver MUST hit when pitting under green. Just have the light be in the middle of the back window. From the in-car cameras, you can't see two cars ahead of you. Plus, when the sun is right in your eyes or at night, it has to be a beast to see someone waving in the car ahead of you. A light would certainly get all the non-pitters out of line with the pitting cars.
Guest deldeer
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? [ QUOTE ] Carl was right, but shouldn't have said he wasn't going to do the drive through. snapper
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? If he wouldn't have did his drive through...Nascar would have just stopped scoring him! I don't think what he did was wrong...the only cars he gained position on where the two that were pitting. He actually lost three spots on the track. However, he should listen to his boss and do what he's told. If he don't want to listen to his boss...then he'll be looking for another ride or maybe he should own his own team. rutbuster
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? Carl did the right thing on the track as for not going in when he was told , probably save some butt chewin from the car boss and track officials. RTF
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? I think what Nascar needs to let the drivers know, is that if they penalize you during a race and find out that they screwed up then give them the lap(s) they lost during the drive through back and if they are still on the lead lap, then throw the caution and put the driver back where he was. Now I bet Nascar wont be so dang fast at black flagging a car until all angles are looked at if that rule was applied !
Bowhntr
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? Well, Carl's response was not he best way to handle it. However, He got screwed BIG TIME. He broke no rules. The rules say you can't ADVANCE a position below the yellow line. Carl LOST positions. Anyway, he should have jsut came on in and then let his case be heard in the yellow trailer. NASCAR has go to do something or this whole mess is gonna get out of control.
LETMGROW
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? A little controversy before the big race. NASCAR has a way of getting attention does'nt it?
Randyman
Re: Carl Edwards- Right or Wrong ? Didn't see the situation in question, so i can't comment there. Regardless of the outcome, it is best that Carl saved the car. Snapper is right, ignore the Black flag long enough, and Nascar just pulls your scoring card. I agree that Nascars enforcement of the rules, or the lack thereof, is a joke.
