popgun
Re: smokeless powder muzzleoader I have one and love it. Go to: http://dougva.proboards34.com/index.cgi Scroll down to Savaage Muzzleloading Message Board. The guys on this site have done all kinds of testing and measuring. They can answer any questions you may have. Pay special attention to RBinAR. He has really done some fantastic work with the Savage 10MLII. There is a link for developing loads and everything a beginner needs to know. You can also shoot Pyrodex or 777 if the state you are hunting in does not allow smokeless. I use VVN110 or IMR 4759, but a lot of powders work great. Good luck, you will love it too. I'll never go back, even though I had good luck with my Remington 700 ML using Pyrodex pellets. There is simply no comparison. You'll find it is worth every penny. ....popgun

popgun
Re: smokeless powder muzzleoader You are so right Randy, I read everything you wrote and more before I bought mine. Since I studied beforehand, I pretty much knew from the start what to expect. If it weren't for you and the guys on Doug's board, I probably never would have taken the plunge. Special thanks to you Randy; you helped me get started on one of the best adventures in my hunting career. Sorry I forgot to mention you in my first reply. ....popgun
AJ
Re: smokeless powder muzzleoader They are sweet shooting guns. They definately are the most versitile muzzleloaders on the market. These guns will digest black powder, Pyrodex, Triple 7, and smokeless powders. You can load them anywhere from mild loads that equal black powder or substitutes, or up to loads that you do not want to shoot many of. Popgun is right, Doug's Board is the place for info on the Savage 10 ML II. They have done the more work on load development than Savage has. I have used mine for 2 years now and I love it. I am going to get a custom SMI Barrel for my Pardner this spring. They will also make smokeless barrels for the Encore and other guns. Smokeless muzzleloading is at its infant stages. As the hunting public gets more information and clears up the myths and misconceptions they have, it will be the same as using other BP substitutes. Jus like the early days of the modern inlines when Knight was the only game in town, the muzzleloading world bashed them. Now look at them. This is just the next step. If you want to get one, be sure to check your local game regs before using smokeless in muzzleloader season. Some states still have their head in the sand. AJ
Re: smokeless powder muzzleoader [ QUOTE ] no, I have yet to try it, just haven't had time to try something besides 777 pellets [/ QUOTE ] You can not try it in just any gun. There are only a few guns that are rated for the use of smokeless powder. Do not use smokeless in a gun that is not designed for it.
