Stupid eye twitch

Any of you experience when the corner of your eye or your eye lid gets this twitch you can't control and usually it lasts only a few seconds? I woke up yesterday morning and it did it all day, an hour being the longest it didn't do it, and it is doing it again today. What the heck is going on? I can actually see my upper eye lid move, lol. I think my face is going to freeze like this if it doesn't stop soon.... grin.gif

Re: Stupid eye twitch

Gary's correct, stress, and lack of sleep will cause them.

I have a semi-cure.

I learned this after I had my parathyroid glands removed. Your parathyroids regulate the level of calcium in your body. Calcium is very important when it comes to controlling your muscles. If you have low calcium levels you will get twitchy.

I only have 1/4 of one parathyroid gland, normal people have 4, so my calcium goes low all the time. I pop about 4 to 6 citracal pills throughout the day on a regular basis.

Try that, and eat a few bananas, and go to bed earlier, I'll bet your twitch goes away. grin.gif

About the only way I can describe the location is that I wear glasses and the twitch is usually about an inch below where the nose guard is on the right side. Pretty annoying.

As far as caffeine, I've been cutting down on soda intake, stress levels are high with work, and school, and everything else, so that might be part of the problem. That and I have been getting bad headaches lately. I had one Monday that wouldn't quit, I took 5 Tylenols within 8 hours and it wouldn't go away. I felt one coming on yesterday and I popped one of my fiance's 800 Mg prescription Ibuprofen. No headache yesterday glad to say. I can't keep popping those though.

Re: Stupid eye twitch

My mom had it. So I guess that makes me a son of a twitch! smile.gif

Guess I inherited it because occasionally I have the same problem.

Tominator's advice is good. Calcium must be why string cheese seems to help (no joke!)

Besides stress and fatigue. Eye twitches can be the result of a side effect from a new medication or an allergy you're developing.

The side effect cause is the scariest if you let it go too long, because by the time you figure it out permanent damage may have occurred.

Google all your meds + "side effects" wink.gif
