huntinsonovagun
Like "propel yourself" bike riders...not the motorized ones. I'm looking into getting a cheap mountain bike for fitness reasons (I hear bike-riding is much better for you than jogging) and also to hunt off of. Plan on rigging up a gun/maybe bow holder for it so I can get in the woods a little farther (and quieter) than other hunters. I hear bikes are great for turkey hunting, and I can see how the could be. Maybe spray paint it camo or tape it up. Only thing I hate about mtn bikes is where the handle bars attach to the frame....you hit something and guess where your pride goes....right into that pointy point. Let me tell you first hand....IT HURTS. Anyway, you reckon this one will work alright? Don't want to spend a lot of money on something I'm going to throw in the back of my truck from time to time. Guest tunkhannockbowhunter
Re: Any bikers?? i am an avid mountain biker. it is a lot of fun and excercise. i ride the back roads near my hunting ground at dusk all summer long. they are great for scouting cause deer arent that afraid of them(kind of like cars). Ive been mountain biking for about 8 years and i hate what walmart does. it makes beginners believe that the bikes they sell are good, but trust me they are far from good. my friend went through 3 of them before i convinced him to buy a quality mountain bike. he would have saved money and frustration if he would have spent the money and bought the better bike. i think walmart drives away a lot of potential bikers because they buy a piece of junk bike from them and it falls apart in no time. i dont want to make anyone mad by saying this but it is just my opinion from what i have seen happen to others. check out www.trekbikes.com to find a local dealer near you. you could get into a good quality mountain bike for about 300 dollars that would last you a lot longer and function a lot better than a bike from walmart. trust me its worth it. toddyboman
Re: Any bikers?? I ride during the summer around the areas I hunt. You can ride right up to deer without them really paying to much attention to you because they are so quite. Rode up to about 25 30 yards to nice 130 inch 8 point last year. 007hunter
Re: Any bikers?? Thats awefully pretty! Well what do you do when you ride back 4 miles and get a deer? You gonna put that deer on yur handle bars too? Or you gonna drag that deer the 4 miles out.... I donno about you but dragging a deer 4 miles would not be very fun.... tp793
Re: Any bikers?? what happens if you kill a deer way back in the woods? now you have a mountain bike and a deer to get out of there. i can see them being great for turkey, but not so much for deer.just my two cents..
