Re: A Largemouth Bass

In all honesty, I think this is one of the better bass mounts I have seen, as far as painting, realism, etc...

I like the glitter effect you put on the scales. It doesn't look like a piece of plastic, like many other fish mounts I see. The scales don't seem to "run together" like other mounts either! I think you did a good job RTF. I give it a solid A!!

Re: A Largemouth Bass

Very nice work RTF! Fish are tricky. I still haven't found a local taxidermist that does fish that look nearly as good as yours. We have a Black Crappie on our wall here, but the taxidermist that we had do it didn't impress us at all. Infact we demanded a refund from him because it was that unrealistic looking. He said the fish was abnormally too big for the crappie molds he could get so he tried to use a smallmouth bass mold and it just doesn't do the fish any justice at all. It isn't nearly as blue and black colored as our crappie was nor shaped correctly. We still at least have a picture of it and the trophy it won. That fish seemed to provoke all kinds of mistakes with things dealing with it. Even the trophy we got from a state contest for it had a mistake on it. It was suppose to say 15 1/2" and it came out saying 15' 12" (wow that would really be a monster crappy right? lol). But, what do you expect for a fish caught out of the river right next to Three Mile Island Nuclear Plant. lol
