I think if he is leaving then leave now. Although I think he is using the "Im not a Grad" as a crutch for "I am not a good coach". Wonder what the board thinks of letting go of the "General" now?

Still havent got over that. When Indiana won this year against Illinois every fan and student ran on the floor like they just won the Big Ten Cahmpionship or the Final Four Tournament. I know Mr. Bob Knight wouldn't let that crap go on there is he was still around.

I doubt Alford will leave Iowa. Theres no reason to leave a good situation and go into a bad one. I bet Dane Fife will have a job in Bloomington within the next 5 years if the situation stays bad.

You might be right, but Alford has always wanted to coach at IU. It's in his contract in Iowa that he will leave and go to Indiana. I betcha he'll be at IU in the offseason. I like Dane Fife, he played the best defense I ever seen. But I don't think he'll be able to handle the pressure at IU.

I really hope they wouldn't consider Dane Fife for their coach....I mean come on! I don't think Alford would go there with what he has going for him in Iowa. I am crossing my fingers for Rick Mageris (sp.). I think he could handle the pressure and help do some good at Indiana. He used to live here when he coached at Ball State just up the road.

Re: Coach Davis for the Hoosiers is resigning???

Im a Purdue fan, but i gotta say that i dont think Davis was ever going to be the guy and this is probably the best thing for him. I dont think it would have mattered how good or bad IU did, people were never going to like Davis. Replacing Bob Knight is nearly an impossible job in the state of Indiana to Hoosier fans. The sad thing is back a few weeks ago when IU was ranked 12th in the nation, people still felt the same way about Davis. I had IU fans in class with me tell me they were hoping IU would go on a losing streak so the fire Davis chants would start back up. Thats pretty sad. I dont know wether or not this guy can truly coach, i know he led a team to the championship game in his first season so he did something right that year. I just think he was doomed at IU, every singe loss was magnified and his players had to feel pressure from all this. I wont be at all surprised to see a few of them transfer.

In Steve Alford's contract he has the ability to move to another team when he wishes, like I said earlier in my other post he wants to coach at IU. If not then I'd take Rick Margieres
