NYBUCK
As most of you know the northeast is getting hit with severe winds, well this morning I get a phone call from my daughters who are away at college ( 3 hrs away) and a huge tree fell on their car while it was parked in the driveway. After getting off the phone with the insurance company, they tell me that property owner is not responsible, I am, which is fine, our car insurance wil cover it minus $200 deductable, but they say I have to move the tree if the property owner won't. Great. I may have to pack up my chainsaw and head west so that the body shop can come and get the car. When my daughter called she was crying her eyes out and I had to laugh. She said dad, "why are you laughing" I said because you are crying and I don't care about the car, that can be replaced. You were not hurt and that is all that matters. She said "dad, but I love my car" How cute.
Shaun_300
Re: WONDERFUL Sorry to hear about that! Glad to hear no one was hurt though, that's the main thing. Good luck sorting everything out.

Newarcher
Re: WONDERFUL Hate that....the landowner might be responsible if the tree was known to be damaged or if it was dead. If not, your insurance rates are going up! Glad no one was hurt. New
Turkeygirl
Re: WONDERFUL Cute daughter:-) That is sad to hear. My bedroom is right next to some big maple trees and hearing the wind howl this morning, I was hoping nothing would fall on me. I hope things work out. Car's are replaceable, people are not. NYBUCK
Re: WONDERFUL This is my youngest, she is 19. She is so sweet, caring and emotional. I thought it was cute, could only laugh. Thank God. There is evidence that the tree was struck by lightening and was dead, if so he is liable. Otherwise he is not. The insurance company assurred me that this was an act of God and no fault and my rates won't go up. Ha Ha yeah right, and I got some ocean front property in Arizona too. Oh by the way I had my daughter take a bunch of pics.
Nosdog2
Re: WONDERFUL Can't wait to see the pics Jim. Glad she is ok. Insurance companies will try and find any reason or loophole they can to avoid paying out, which is the main reason we are supposed to be paying insurance for in the first place. Such a scam. NYBUCK
Re: WONDERFUL Thanks Tim. That is very thoughtful. Everything worked out, property owner moved the tree, garage came and got the car. Got a phone call because of the damage, it is totalled. Now I have to see what the insurance company says. Haven't told her yet, she has her last regular season game tomorrow. Don't want to depress her right now.
