Very important lesson learned...

Well tonight I was talking to my girlfriend and she was whining about work and how this one lady who worked there wasn't pulling her fair share and this and that. She was whining about a bunch of other stuff before that too. After she was done I made the smart remark "Cry about it" Needless to say it didn't go over well. Now I admit I did say it a bit to seriously but it was said in a jokingly serious way. Plus we are always joking around with each other in that sort of way, but this time it wasn't to funny. So I'm in the doghouse right now...So I just wanted to share my experience with my fellow Realtree Family members in hopes that if by chance you happen upon the same road as I that you might take a better approach...

PS - the doghosue isn't so bad, a little more leg room and I could almost call it home... grin.gif

Re: Very important lesson learned...

So true, so true.

14 years of marriage and I haven't learned yet. 2 of the biggest fights I've had with my wife have occurred in the last few months and both of them were brought on by her telling me about work.

I think by nature men want to solve problems, and ladies just want to talk about them. That is a very volatile situation. My wife will complain that "so and so did this to Julie and it really irritates me....." which in turn irritates me because all I want to do is solve the problem, which usually involves wanting to jack slap someone, namely the troublemakers where she works.

You know what? She doesn't care. Like Steve said, she just wants someone to listen and say things like "that's too bad" or "that stinks" Throw out a solution, and WHAMMMMO--instant fight. crazy.gifgrin.gif

Oh well, not the first time, won't be the last. Hang in there 007.

I think I'll take Steves advice next time. Just nod and smile.

[/ QUOTE ]

NO,NO...don't smile. I didn't say nod and smile, I said "keep it zipped and just nod" and "look real serious"

You'd better get this right if you want to survive. grin.gif

Shake your head, look discusted, look very interested, but DON'T SMILE. Do you realize that a woman can interpret a smile to mean anything her heart desires. Don't do it grin.gif

Geesh...you worry me shocked.gifwink.gif

like red foreman said on that 70's show.

"I find it best to just grunt ! I'm not a ape i can talk I just choose not to. I get myself in less trouble that way ! "

I just grunt and say stuff like "that sucks"

Thought my wife and I were the only ones out there who fought about stuff that goes on at work. Chris is so right here. Try giving suggestions or solving a problem and it usually ends up in a fight.

Re: Very important lesson learned...

Don't look to me for advise, my dearly beloved asked me one time if the dress she was wearing made her look fat. I was actually dumb enough to say I wouldn't blame the dress. I thought it was quick wit and would be taken in the manner of humor. After pulling my bleeding battered body to the porch to get away from the fury of a small but mighty woman, I relized that was not the time for humor. LOL
