AJ! any scope recommendations?

Re: AJ! any scope recommendations?

I would definately recommend a stout one. I would definately go with a good quality scope. For the 338 RUM, is it going to be your long range gun? The Nightforce line is a very popular scope that withstands the .50 BMG recoil and has premium optics. That would be the optimum long range (500+ yards) big game rifle. I would add a brake to it so you can shoot it accurately enough for long range hunting.

For the 375 RUM, the 2-8 Leupy should work and definately so if you add a comp to the muzzle. Other good choices are the Swarovski PH and AH scopes, and the Kahles line should also work well.

Re: AJ! any scope recommendations?

The 338 will be my long range elk and bear gun (mainlty bear) though I have never shot an elk more than 60 yards. My bear last year was ranged 517 yards and I shot him with my 7 Ultra using 154 grain Intebonds. Hit him through the front shoulders and he ran about 150 yards. Would like to have some more energy for them. All the bears I saw last year were 400+ yards away. The 375 I purchased because it was NIB and I got a real deal on it. I will think of something to use it for.

Thanks for the info!

Re: AJ! any scope recommendations?

LOL! We are just the opposite. Most of the bears I see are less than 30 yards and the elk I saw was about 300 yards. I am still playing with the idea of getting a 338 RUM and/or a 375. I pretty much won't be sad if I don't find one, but if the right deal comes around, I will pounce on it.
