A freind of mine shot this deer durring hunting season. This is the same freind that shot the biggest deer ( weight and body size ) I have ever had in my shop. I havn't recieved his cape back from the tannery yet, so picture are to come later on that one. He will be mounted on a Semi-Sneek Head up with a lip curl.

Here you go. Here is a picture of that whitetail doe I mounted. I finnished the epoxy and paint last night when I got home from work. Sorry she is still on the mounting bracket and in the shop. I will post more pic's when I get her hung up on the wall. She is mounted on a Full Upright Wall Pedastal.

First off. Nice work wink.gif

Second you better learn to start doing your own capes. It is a waste of time and money to send them off. I also find it dangerous if you want the chance of loosing your customers cape. I ahve many customers tell me that the only reason they will deal with me, is because I do my own tanning, which gaurantee's them their own cape back and a much quicker return time.

In my case sending them off is the quickest way to get things to my customers. I have a full time job as a mechanic and i got to school 3 nights a week til 10 pm. I could use Dry Preserve and get them out quicker but I like the working time I have with a good tanned cape. I n the time I would be using to flesh and shave a tanning cape in shop I could be mounting fish and other animals. I also have limited space in my shop. Having capes at the tannery saves me space by not having to use as big a freezer.

I am using Caroline Fur Dressors just north of me. They are the best at what they do. I put 3 marks on every cape. A tag in the ear cartlige with the customer ID #. A punch code in the cape itself. Also ALL my capes have anothe Zip tie in the other ear butt. All of which are the same color, indicating which capes are mine from everyone elsesat the tannery. My tags with the customers ID# are all the came color as well.

Personaly, turn around time is not my main concern. Quality is what I am after because it is lacking in the majority of taxidermy work today. I want to give the customer back something that will last and not fall apart or distort in a few years. I do not opertate in an assembly line process. It is one at a time.

This year I have 42 Deer to do. Not including Turkey, Fish, Reproductions (racks & Fish), Fox, Bobcat, and anything else I might get. This is double the amount I brought in last year.
