snapper
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! I'm not talking strategy and what Tony should have done for the best of his team/car...I'm talking about who's fault it was. I understand you guys are Gordon fans...try looking at it as two cars that you don't really care about. I personally wish they would have both crashed harder and been completely out of the race. VermontHunter
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! Snapper there were 2 lines running in the front ( not 3 ) Gordon was in front of Stewart and Stewart went high to pass as you have said,, but when they got to the corner Jeff's car pushed up the track as it had been doing for several laps,, Where was Jeff to go ?? he definatley couldn't get into the bottom lane,,, so he held his ground in the second lane, hoping not to get shuffled back too far before pit stops... I saw a number of cars lifting because there was another car drifting to the top of the track in front of them, they just let them in and took them on in the straight ways, and gained that spot quite easily... Stewart was just pushing the issue all day long and cutting NO slack for any driver.... I just don't understand Stewart the man can drive anything you put him in and win.... What was the deal with one spot,,,, he had the car to pass Gordon most anywhere on the track,, but he choose to push the issue too far and took himself out,, along with another good car.... And as for you cutting me off on the interstate..... Im the ROADRAGE KING,,, I'd just do it right back to you..... and then we would both be considered JERKS of the highway.... I bet if you ask my wife...she'd say I was the roadrage king! Don't care...still Jeff's fault!!!!!!!! He held his ground and so did Tony. Jeff was the one who lost control of his car and slid into Tony...Jeff's fault, not 1/2.
Chrud
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! The 24 could have lifted and got in line behind the 20. It was sort of a racing deal. 50/50 at fault.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree Matt, Gordon could have lifted, but the point Im trying to get across is that Gordon took responsibilty for his actions but Tony didn't and won't.... and I aslo see it this way Tony made the move to go high and try to pass, not Gordon,, was Tony wrong ?? Nope that's racing, but once he realized that Gordon was pushing up the track, he should have saved his car, and thought about the others that were right behind him and Gordon.... Yikes that one could have been real ugly,, just glad Gordon and Stewart were able to hold their cars up high against the wall....
IowaDeerHunter
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! Hey guys check out the comment Stewart made on Nascar.com "Kyle Busch, he's the one guy that's probably going to hurt somebody out there," Stewart said. "He's what we like to call a bird with no feathers." Stewart, you really ARE a complete idiot! What was he thinking when he made this comment! VermontHunter
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! LOL.. here is what he said.... [ QUOTE ] "Kyle Busch, he's the one guy that's probably going to hurt somebody out there," Stewart said. "He's what we like to call a bird with no feathers. "He just doesn't know where he's going. He has a fast car. He just needs to learn how to drive the thing." For a guy who was outspoken during Speedweeks about the beating and banging that is bump drafting, Stewart -- and many of the other drivers in Sunday's race -- didn't help the cause for leaving it to the drivers to enforce the unwritten gentleman's agreement on the track. Or maybe because it was the Daytona 500 and Stewart is the defending series champion that everyone paid more attention to the bright orange blob that is the No. 20 Chevy; it would seem tough to miss all that day-glo in a rear-view mirror. Unless you're Dick Cheney. [/ QUOTE ] I honestly this Tony has lost it....

rutbuster
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! I know this has nothing to do with this topic,, but years back before Earnhardt won his 6th and 7th championship,, some dude, I know was saying how Dale was not that great a driver,, and I said,, oh thats why Dale has five titles and your driver has none,, Dale drove his heart out,, and yes he got over agressive at times,, I don't agree with knocking every car into the wall , and what Stewart did with Kennseth was not good, and was not called for but then again I've seen Gordon do the same over the years to get around cars for the win also, I didn't mean purposely run them offthe track, I guess thats the nature of the sport ,,,,,, These guys will do what they have to do wether its right or wrong... I'm not a Gordon fan, He has gotten them loose and gone around to win,,I {didn't mean he plowed some one into the wall}, so have several others I'm an avid Earnhardt fan, and did not always agree on what he did but I guessing most of our racing heros have had the temper tantrums now and then. BowJoe
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! I pretty much agree with the group. Gordon pushed up the track into Stewart and they both hit the wall. If you have ever played Nascar on Xbox and raced at Daytona then you understand how close you can come to that wall and not mean to. I definately think Gordon misjudged the clearance and his spotter screwed up. Stewart was not to blame for that. That being said, I think Stewart should have been parked for the rest of the race, either been suspended for another couple races or at least one other race and docked 25 points and $10,000. Junior once spun out his own car on purpose at Bristol and admitted it and was fined and docked points. This is no different except more dangerous and endangering the life of many other drivers. I like Stewart but I too do not understand his actions. I think this is very reminiscent of the year after his first championship. I also think JJ should have been parked at Daytona and at least one more race. Geez man these drivers are starting to make Harvick look like the good guy in the group. I never heard him B---h all weekend. Just goes to show that nobody's innocent.
HeviShot
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! I think Stewart just needs to be taken out to the wood shed, and beat with a 2x4 from Home Depot.
IowaDeerHunter
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! Stewart said body-slamming Matt Kenseth was all part of the plate give-and-take, that Kenseth had turned him sideways earlier in the race. He also said he thought he was clear of the 17, that Kenseth should know Stewart wouldn't purposely damage his own car just to retaliate against another driver. This is yet another lie from Stewart! He though he was clear of the 17! Give me a break! Look at my avatar if he thought he was clear then what the heck is he still doing running him BELOW the yellow line, and what is Steawrt doing down that low! oo_buck
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! Hey I know, we could just stop everything, and pass out the trophy and prize money based on qualifications....... You know, then just have a 500 mile parade lap so everyone can go support their favorite drivers....... No passing, No bumping, No speed....., No wrecks...... Yeah, I'd LOVE to watch that...... Hey guess what there were some bonehead moves at Daytona.......Would you expect anything else...? Frankly that's all that's kept my interest.....It sure ain't the driver's personality.....NASCAR won't let them have one of their own....... BRING ON THE CONTROVERSY!!!!!!!!!!! rutbuster
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! [/ QUOTE ] This is why eye witness accounts don't hold much water when police are interviewing "eye witnesses"...lol. Luke, Tony was already in the high groove...Jeff "tried" to pass under Tony and couldn't hold his car there and slid up into Tony! Here is a clip of an article from ESPN.com... [ QUOTE ] Earlier, Gordon ran up the track and got loose in front of Stewart, clipping the No. 20. Both cars had to be worked on, and Stewart's crew did a better job of getting him back in contention. Stewart was willing to cut Gordon -- who admitted he deserved some of the blame -- some slack. "The thing with Jeff, I don't think it was his fault," Stewart said. "I think he just got a spot up there where it was wet and he pushed, got into me and we both pushed into the wall. I wasn't complaining about that by any means. It was a wild day for sure." [/ QUOTE ]
VermontHunter
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! Yep, I was just reading that very article... , I realize Tony was high, just not sure if he went there on his own to pass on the high side or if he was shuffled up there, Gordon was in the the second groove and pushed high, and didn't clear the #20.... But Im definately glad to see Tony, took some effort not to blame Jeff 100% for the incident... One thing for sure is 2 cars can't occupy the same space at the same time...... LETMGROW
Re: Tony Stewart did it again! I watched several replays of the Gordon Stewart clash. If you watch closely Gordon's wheels were turned left. His car slid up the track and he had no chance to avoid contact. If he had slowed he would have taken Stewart squarley in the side and probably have taken them both out as well as who knows how many others. Stewart could have backed out of it a little but didn't. Gordon took blame for something he had no control of. He is definately the better man in this situation!
