vagobbln
I’ve posted before about buying a CZ 527 (.204 Ruger) for varmit hunting. After buying the gun, my Dad gave me a brand new Leupold VX-III 3.5 x 10 scope that he had “lying around” and wasn’t going to use. It wasn’t exactly what I had in mind for the gun but, he wanted me to have it. Anyway, to make a short story long, I’m having a devil of a time finding rings that will fit this gun/scope combo. The scope has a 50 mm objective so I’ve sent a couple sets back because they weren’t high enough. Finally, this weekend I get my extra high Warne rings for the CZ 527 in the mail. Well they won’t fit either. The darn recoil lug for the back ring is on the end of the ring and not in the center where it needs to be to fit the gun. Not to mention the profile of it is too high also. (in other words, the lug is taller than the depth of the slot on the receiver). What I’m wondering is – with the light recoil of the .204 Ruger, is the lug even necessary in the first place? I hate to do it, but I’m ready to take a grinding wheel to the bottom of that ring and just remove the lug. Any ideas?
AJ
Re: I give up!!! I had the same issues when I set up my .222 Rem. I did the same thing, I had a set of 16mm dovetail Warne rings and the lug was in the wrong spot. I filed the lug off and used them. They work just fine. vagobbln
Re: I give up!!! Thanks AJ. I'm warming the grinder up now! Why in the world does Warne sell a product that says right on the package it will fit a specific gun (CZ 527) but won't? It just bugs me to have to modify a set of $65 rings in order to make'em work!
