Homemade Gun Camo

For those of you who've done your own camo jobs - and I've seen some pretty good ones on here, what do you top coat with? Is there a good "flat" lacquer or something that will improve the durablity and not shine/reflect?

Also, have you guys that have done this just made your own patterns? I just used some card stock and an X-acto knife to make mine.

Re: Homemade Gun Camo

I did not put a top coat on mine. If it gets scratched or rubs off with use, I can just give it another blast with the spray can.

I did not use any templates other than lay a few leaves , ferns, blades of grass, etc on the gun and start spraying. That's the cool thing about DIY camo, there are no right or wrong patterns. Experiment and have fun. If you want to see what your pattern will be like, get a 2x4 and lay out your pattern and spray it. If you don't like it, give it a solid color and start over.

I did exactly what AJ suggested...no top coat and used leaves, grass, little sticks, etc.
