Guest adamc
I was just wondering how many of you have used one and how effective was it?? I was thinking about getting one for my turkey gun but didn't know if it was worth the 20 bucks. Also, i was looking at the slip on model. When installing it....do you remove the existing recoil pad or just slip the sims recoil pad over the existing one?? That may be a dumb question
Covehnter
Re: sims recoil pad After shooting my 870 SM w/ 3.5" the past few years, i put a Sims recoil pad on my gun before i patterned it this past weekend. . . . YES IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Shot about 20 times with different combos and didnt even have a headache! That 870 can be gruesome.
AJ
Re: sims recoil pad Its not going to turn a 3.5" magnum into a target load, but it will cushion the recoil better than the factory pad will. Unless your nuckles drag the ground, I would advise removing yor existing pad before adding a slip on. It will make the length of pull too long for most people. I would advise getting a pre fit pad at minimum. Best results will be having a new pad ground to fit your gun.
johnf
Re: sims recoil pad I've got a slip-on on my Nova and love it. It is well worth the money. I did take the existing pad off.
EKYhunter
Re: sims recoil pad I've have found that this is a product that works as advertised. I have had them on a 300 wsm, a Browning Gold 12 gauge, and a TC Encore 50 cal. I don't why I haven't put one my SBE yet. They do work! too_pointer
Re: sims recoil pad I have 2 of them, 1 for my Mossberg 3 1/2", and the other for my Encore muzzleloader/ 25-06. I think they are worth every penny $20 is a good price for one also ! too_
Master_Chief
Re: sims recoil pad I put one on my cousins 300 for him after shoulder surgery. He notices quite a bit of difference. Could be the shoulder replacement but I give more credit to SIMS.

LETMGROW
Re: sims recoil pad Something I have noticed is recoil pads tend to get hard with age. I have a couple shotguns with recoil pads which are harder than the wood they are screwed to.
Guest adamc
Re: sims recoil pad Well i went out and shot the turkey gun today with the sims pad on it. I could tell a big difference. I'm not saying that it made it feel like a .410 or anything but it did take a good bit of the recoil out.I'm pleased with it!

wtnhunt
Re: sims recoil pad Put a pre fit sims pad on my 1300, it makes a noticeable difference when shooting turkey loads.
Griz
Re: sims recoil pad I put one on my 835 mossberg, it sure calmed down the mule kicker...
maddhunter
Re: sims recoil pad I put one on my 870, mainly for turkey loads. It's the best thing I ever did to a gun. I also have a slip on that I use on my son's guns and my muzzle loaders. Also I take the stock pad off, it makes the slip on fit better and is easier to get on. Those things are worth thier wieght in gold in my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!
too_pointer
Re: sims recoil pad Thats great new Madd, I haven't had much chance to shoot my guns with the simms pad on them. I can't wait to try it with my 3 1/2" mags out of my Mossberg I hope it helps !! too_
