SaskBucks
My father in law is going to buy a quad for him and his wife to go touring (two seater) What advice do you have that I can give him? What make or model? Thanks for your help
wtnhunt
Re: Quad advice please Not really too many options in a 2 seater atv is there. Bombardier I think the first and one of the few that makes a 4 wheeler that is intended for two riders inline, but personally I prefer honda bikes. Honda to the best of my knowledge does not have a "2 seater" at this time. There are a lot more manufacturers making the "mule" type utility vehicles with the side by side seating if that is more what they are looking for. Guest Finn
Re: Quad advice please If I had the cash, I'd buy a Yamaha Rhino. A good buddy has had one for a year and absolutely loves it.
hutchies
Re: Quad advice please For 2 people I would definately say the Bombardier. It is the one and only that makes a 2 seater. If it was a single person I would say a Honda Rancher or Rincon, Yamaha Grizzly or Bruin. Also they might want to consider a side by side like the Rhino. They are awesome. preacherman
Re: Quad advice please I would say for 2 people either a Yamaha Rhino or Kubota tractors makes a little machine like a Rhino that I have seen, driven and riden in before and it is wonderful. It is about $10,000 for a 4wd in camo, but tough as nails. If they have a Kubota dealership, they ought to at least give it a look see. AaronS
Re: Quad advice please Does he want a quad, or a utv? For quads, he can choose between the Bombardier and Arctic Cat. Both have very good reviews. I've ridden with a gentleman from Alabama that has the Arctic Cat and he loves it. If he wants a utv (side by side) he will have more choices. The Yamaha Rhino is currently tops. Arctic Cat recently released its Prowler and it has received very good reviews also. The Rhino has been out longer so more accessories are available. There is also the Polaris Ranger, the Kubota RTV, the Kawasaki Mule, etc etc.
SaskBucks
Re: Quad advice please He wants a quad...is there some type of accessory that allows you to double someone sitting behind you on a regular sized quad? does anyone have a honda? hutchies
Re: Quad advice please I love Honda. I ride red but I haven't ever seen an access for and quad to ride double except for the Bombardier. You can ride double on most quads but if you want to be comfortable on long rides the bombardier has backrests and all.
MUDRUNNER
Re: Quad advice please Bombardier makes a good machine.Of course I'm a ski-doo fan so I'm kinda partial. I have a Quest 650,but it doesn't have a 2 up seat. I forget what model they make for 2 people, but I'm sure it would be a pretty comfy ride. Guest Finn
Re: Quad advice please I beleive Arctic Cat also has the 2 seater...don't know anyone that owns one, though. Can't go wrong with a Honda, but I know they don't have the 2 seater.
AaronS
Re: Quad advice please Bombardier Outlander Max Arctic Cat TRV Or he could buy a regular atv and add a cargo box and foot pegs. Kimpex trunk Foot pegs
Nosdog2
Re: Quad advice please I would go with the Polaris. They have a two seater model in the 500 class it is the X2. However you can get a back rack with a back seat and arm rests and all for any four wheeler you want. (cough cough***sportsman 800EFI ***cough cough) They work great, and when you don't have another person, you can just take it off. Best of both worlds. preacherman
Re: Quad advice please If you are going to buy the back rack thing, I would indeed go with the biggest Honda made. I have had two and have never had any trouble out of either one. (knock on wood)
Ravin R10 man
Re: Quad advice please I would not advise riding double on any wheeler.. tell them to get two..it's more fun to operate your own
ny_gun
Re: Quad advice please I saw in the Arctic Cat catalogue that they have a new option for their 2-Seater ATV. They use their SpeedRack System to attach the 2nd seat, dump box, or standard rack. I think that is what I would go for.

[/ QUOTE ] Nope, not that makes it what the manufacturers consider to be a safe 2 seater. We have an old 87 model and a 04 model foreman. Our Honda bikes specifically say no extra riders. All the accessories I have seen that look like seats that would accomadate an extra rider do say that the seat is not intended for extra riders. All that said we do ride with more than one on our 04 Honda foreman around the farm here, but we do ride safely.

LETMGROW
Re: Quad advice please Some areas now are looking at the weight of the machines and some places are not allowing the heavy side by sides to be registered as ATV's. There is talk NY may be falling into this category. I'd check with my local jurisdiction first. I'd hate to buy something I couldn't use.
