johnf
I just spent about 20 minutes watching curling on the winter olympics. Holy cow are there people out there who really think this a sport? I thought golf was boring to watch. These guys are talking about which on e was afraid to get a tattoo, and acting like it was exciting. Then they started singing "you've lost that loving feeling" really badly. It was so bad the comentater was hiding and laughing at them. That has got to be the worst televsion I've seen since Rosanne sang the national anthem. I think watching this actually lowered my IQ. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Sport or Non-sport I think everytime something happens, all of the competitors should have to guzzle a beer! It might get interesting by the end of the match, game, event, whatever they call one of their "things".
johnf
Re: Sport or Non-sport Full contact curling....now that's a sport. Nothing that I can do in the shape I'm in is a sport.
TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Sport or Non-sport I am not anybody to say whether it is a sport or not but I will tell you this, I personally think it's boring to watch. If they have curling, they may as well have bowling or croquet
johnf
Re: Sport or Non-sport Ice dancing is more fun to watch. At least you get to see people move fast and sometimes fall. (It's not a sport either)
VermontHunter
Re: Sport or Non-sport LOL... come on guys it's knowing the rules of the game.....and what to watch for.. Curling is a very complicated game, if you understand it, but if you don't it can be very dull too watch... I actually grew up watching it having alot of Canadian relatives, and rather enjoy watching it now that I understand the basics of the game....but agree it's not a sport for everyone... Is it a sport ?? I would say YES, just not one clearly understood here in the States...

Tominator
Re: Sport or Non-sport More like a hobby or past-time, not too much athletic ability there IMHO. Kind of like bocci ball on ice.
doughboy1956
Re: Sport or Non-sport Some curlers think sitting for three days in a tree stand in the pouring rain is not a sport. I think they both are in their own way.

superguide
Re: Sport or Non-sport curling is as much a sport as golf and probably more physically demanding-try sweeping a few rocks from end to end.
BowJoe
Re: Sport or Non-sport Ya know, some would say that about archery in the Summer Olympics. I can't say as I am good at it, but I can do it in the shape I'm in. That's not saying much.

You know it's not good to see it, but for some reason you just don't change the chanel.
AaronS
Re: Sport or Non-sport Whether it's a sport or not I can't say, nor do I care. This olympics is the first time I've watched it and I've enjoyed it. It involves a lot of strategy.
clayman
Re: Sport or Non-sport sport n. 1. An activity involving physical exertion and skill, governed by rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. So YES, by definition, curling is a sport. I don't see anything in the definition of sport that addresses the sophistication of those who WATCH it from the comfort of their recliners. muggs
Re: Sport or Non-sport when are people going to stop putting down things they don't understand? if you think it's boring, don't watch...no need to questions it. keep an open mind guys...there's probably 100 million people who think the NFL is the most retarded thing they've ever seen. If you think about it, there's a lot about the NFL that makes no sense...punting on 4th and inches...John Madden
