Jeramie
I am going yote hunting Saturday. I figured I better fine tune my rifle before taking her out for the first time (.243 for those that didnt know). I hit the local hotspot during lunch to round off a few. Ive been saving diet pepsi/ mt dew bottles for a good target. I filled up 4- of them with water before leaving the office. I shot several rounds at 100yds and finally got exactly where I wanted it (using info from yesterday's post). I then setup my pop bottles and stepped back to 200 yds. I lay on a little berm that is the perfect height. I shot 4-shots at a target I hunt up first to check my aim at 200. I didnt see a single hole but come to find out I had put 3 shots in the 2" ring and 1 in the 1" ring and the black hid the shots. I then cracked down on the soda bottles and went 4 for 4! That wasnt enough, I started aiming at old pop cans and such and I NEVER missed!!! This is my first Varmit/ Long range gun ever and buddy Ive got the bug. Shaun_300
Re: Oh its on! That's awesome Jeramie! I love doing that with my .22-250, it's really accurate as well. I've watched dad shoot crows in the head at 150 yards when I was younger. I haven't been in the right place at the right time to attempt it. I have set javex bottles up at 150-200 yards and shot the caps off them before.

[/ QUOTE ] It gets interesting out that far!!! For some reason, my rifle gets REEEEALLY shakey on those pop cans at 300...

Jeramie
Re: Oh its on! Lol, I bet it would look like I had parkinsons at 300yds.... Seriously, the spot I shot at today didnt have a 300 yard mark. There is a fence and woods at about 240. After I hunt a little Saturday I will set up at 300 just to see what happens! Here is the amazing thing. I had both Corelokt and Winchester rounds (both the cheap O's, $12 a box). Ive always loved the Corelokt, theyve never let me down while hunting. I was surprised to see the Winchester shot a MUCH better group. I shot the last few Corelokt I had and slipped in 5-Winchester and it was noticable right off! Jeramie
Re: Oh its on! Its going to get expensive! I shot 40 rounds yesterday.... I would have shot more but I ran ooooot. Im definately looking into a reloader! I got Cabella's Reloading catalog in the mail yesterday. Even flat out they had ready to shoot ammo much cheaper then what im paying anywhere around here. I currently pay almost $13 for a box of (20) Corelokt. They had 50 rounds for $20! I could buy a couple of those and have plenty of brass. Ive already collected 80 pcs! wtnhunt
Re: Oh its on! Dont have a place here I can shoot at 300, but the wifes little savage .243 with 100 grain core lokts at 200 yards is very accurate.
