PAbowhunter86
What type of arrow rest do most people use in comp. and why do they use them?
ODH
Re: Arrow Rest question? that depends on what you are shooting with. Do you shoot feathers or vanes? I shoot feathers with fingers. The rest I use is a Star Hunter for finger shooters or release shooters. It works great for my feathers! My old rest was tearing up my vanes, so I got a new rest and got my arrows refletch to feathers. I like this rest because it is easy to adjust and tune, and it works great for my type of set up. I think a lot of people use a grop away rest for comp. but don't quote me on that. In my competition group, most people use a drop away type of rest, or a spring type. hope this helps
Tony
Re: Arrow Rest question? there are many type of arrows that are used in many forms of competitions. im going to list what i use and why . but you could use the same arrows that you use in your hunting bow - the broadheads of course . Indoor target---2613s with 5 inch feathers and 200 gr flightmate glue in tips. Field archery---Easton 3-28 ACCs with 1.5 inch diamond fletch. 3D ----Goldtips 22 series Pros , with 3 inch vanetec vanes and 102 grain glu in tips. Hunting---Goldtip 3D Pros with 4 inch flex fletch and 75 gr broadheads. the reason behind the 2613 for indoor is i think they help me touch more lines to help with scoring. Field archery , 3-28s ACCs because we shoot 4 arrows per target and as far as 80 yards , i want a thin shaft with small vanes to no be effected if the winds bad. plus smaller diameterr shafts and fletch help so that the other shooters don hit them as much. 3d i like the 22 series pros becaus they are light enough and fat enough toget me speed and line cutting. hunting i like these 3D pro arrows , they dont make them anymore but they fly awesome out of my hunting setup. this is just what i shoot. there are many more combinations you could shoot or actually you could use 1 arrow for all of these. VtBowhunter
Re: Arrow Rest question? LMAO.....got ya, Tony. I use a TrophyRidge DropZone. I like the consistant grouping I get, and if I happen to faulter a bit in form, the rest helps to minimize the weakness.
knobby
Re: Arrow Rest question? Tony what was that jibberish all about, were you still sippin nyquil, anyhow, many shooter shoot the trophy taker line of arrow rest and most of them shoot the trophy taker spring steel rest, very simple to setup and tune, no moving parts and reliable, one of the top rests among the pros, you can get three different blade thicknesses for what ever grain arrow you are shooting
