New Encore

Anyone looked at a new Encore yet? Saw one on TV the other night. 28" fluted barrel, the hammer swivled so you didn't need a hammer spur, it had TC engraved on the receiver, and the stock/forend appeared to be some sort of tactile material like duratouch on Brownings or the XCR by Remington. It looked good!

I have seen the commercials. I already have an Encore, so I don't care much, but for those going to buy one, interesting shocked.gif

Wont the new barrel fit your old frame? I was under the impression it would. I was told nothing changed onthe frame but I was also told that the new barrels would be hard to get your hands on because of the demand ... cleaning these things is going to be a breeze to its gonna hurt Knights pocket book I think.

Re: New Encore

To each his own..........I like WOOD.

Look at the length of that breech plug. Ya NEED a longer

barrel to make up the difference! Some of us with the

10ML have modified our breech plugs to get the powder

closer to the primer. There may very well be a need to

clean this new Encore plug much more often, as is a

problem with the 10ML plug.

A few years ago, I got a 28" barrel for my Encore which

did nicely for added combustion, therefore, more

velocity with the same loads. T/C did likewise with the

Omega. But the length of this new plug will negate

most of the advantage of the 28" barrel in this "Pro

Hunter" barrel.

This ol' pup just can't get excited about it.

I don't know about the quarter turn breech plug. I can see the crud from Triple 7 just reaking havock with that thing. It is using rings in the nose to assist blow back but still, I am not sold.

I think AJ is right on with this. My Encore fires off the 777 pellets great, it couldn't clean easier than it does. I hope it does great though, it has some great features, if they work. I'll stay with my "ole" Encore LOL. I hope some buy it in here and let us know how it works, I will wait for real results.

Re: New Encore

Its not so much the blow back, its the nasty corrosive crap thats left behind from Triple 7 that has me concerned. Have you ever gotten a breechplug stuck in a barrel? I have had to use a breaker bar to get one out and another I could not get out even after Kroil and an impact wrench.
