dg
I'm assuming you are using the same arrow at the same weight? Maybe your limbs lost some "uumph" setting dormant for 3 years, or the chrono is screwed up. Did you add cat whiskers or anything else to the string? Still, 30 fps is a good bit difference. muggs
Re: velocity question I wouldn't woryy about 30 fps. That's nothing. Those chrono could be off. Don't get caught up in having the fatest bow. Worry about hitting the target, If your up in the 200's you'll be fine. good luck
VermontHunter
Re: velocity question I would have to agree with Muggs. I'd more concerned with shot placement than speed. I would say that maybe you string has streched abit or maybe a little tuning may be order. I use an Alpine Extreme set at 62lbs. and 80% letoff and it shoots 295ft/psec. and I tagged a deer with it.. don't let this set in your mind it will definately affect ya... rossman
Re: velocity question seems to me that the older the bow, the slower it will shoot. I would try getting a new string, harness and have it tuned up at your shop. I do this every year. Just for a confidence booster if anything else. Chronographs are different. At my old shop my bow was shooyting at 285 ft/sec. I go to adifferet shop and my bow shot 250 ft/sec. This is how much the chronographs fluctuate. Check your trajectory. If your tracectory has stayed the same then you probably shoot a about the same velocity. I used to play the speed game and it made me nuts. Then I started thinking. The indians used to kill deer, and larger animals with home made bows. There's obviously is no comparison between the two. A couple feet/sec either way would not make much of a difference, as long as you hit your spot. If you have any questions of confidence with your bow, then go buy a new one. This will erase all doupt in your mind. I also, used to shoot mechanicals, because they were easy to tune and hit where my field tips hit. I switched to rocket arrowhead "ultimate steel". It isa great, sharp and strong fixed blade that will pattern with your field tips!!!!!
