maddhunter
With the new shafts I'm going to be shooting I'll be getting pretty close to the grain/poundage ratio. Should I lower my poudage to match my wieght or raise my arrow wieght?
VtBowhunter
Re: Adjusting Bow Wieght and Arrow Wieght????? If you're still comfartable with the new poundage, then I would raise the arrow weight.........it's a win/win. You'll still have more speed for 3D and you'll, more then likely, increase KE for hunting.
maddhunter
Re: Adjusting Bow Wieght and Arrow Wieght????? Ya I would like to keep my 70# pull if I can increase the arrow wieght and keep it balanced. The inserts I'll be useing have screw in wieghts. maddhunter
Re: Adjusting Bow Wieght and Arrow Wieght????? Right now I'm shooting Blackhawk Vapor 5000s(75/95), 31 inche shaft, aproximate wieght-435 grain with 100 grain tip. The new ones are the green ones of the type I mentioned, can't remember the exact name but they are rated for 55-75#s at 30 inches, I'll be shooting a 29 inch shaft. I believe the point end of the shaft was about the same diameter as a 26-- aluminum and the nock end is much smaller.(as you probably already know) My total wieght on the new arrows should be around 355-360 grains. Thats with 3 inch vanes and glued, screw in inserts for the field points. The field point inserts also are threaded for wieghts to be added for wieght gain and balancing. I'm sure you already know all this, I'm just repeating all that I remember about them. I'm pretty excited about getting into this stuff a little bit more seriously even if it's just a hunting bow
Tony
Re: Adjusting Bow Wieght and Arrow Wieght????? 70 lbs is a lot of bow weight to pull all day long on a 3d course. of course if you can handle it then it ok for you. i beleieve you should have a bow weight you can handle and then work the arrow weight to fit it. this year i am going to be shooting a slightly heavier arrow and keep my draw weight around 63 lbs. my Goldtip 22 series pros will weigh in at around 340 grs . that will give me a speed of about 283 for 3D. i could shoot more speed easily. but since im going to the 3D Nationals again and the max for speed is 288 . i want to have my bow set at one speed for all summer. last year i switched back and forth between 283 and 294... it was a hassle to make sure i had the right yardage marks wherever i went. Shoot Strong Tony
