I was lucky enough to get a fox with my bow my 2nd year archery hunting. He came running up the feild edge i was hunting at 25 yards i let my arrow fly and hit him rite in the eye it came out by his ear that was one of my luckest shots.Ever since then i love going predator hunting.

I did last year. Gods honest truth I had the best feeling watching that one go down. I had seen it that moring 3-4 times chasing a fawn without its mother, and it mad the mistake of stopping to close to my stand. It was shedding really bad so i didnt have the pelt done.

Hunting a quick prickly pear ground blind over a game trail in South Texas. Had 2 yotes cross the trail. A few seconds later the 3rd yote stops and sits down at 25 yards facing me head on. Aimed center chest and let the Hoyt SuperTec bark. Dropped instantly.

Re: coyotes with bow?????

Talk about beginners luck. My first day bowhunting, October 1989 I shot a coyote which was also my first coyote kill. Saw 4 that were running together and 2 that were running together. Two days later, I went back to the same stand with a predator call figuring the deer were long gone from the area after seeing all those yotes. I called one in but scared it when trying to draw. Sat down in my stand to wait a 1/2 hour before I'd try again. 15 minutes go by and I hear something coming from behind. I turned slowly to see a doe, a spike and a skipper coming down the same trail I had just seen the yote. I took the doe 10 yards from my tree. Thought this bowhunting was going to be easy! Wasn't long til I discovered otherwise...lol! I've taken 3 others with a gun and had one close call with my bow since.

The mount still looks as good as when I picked it up from my taxidermist 16 years ago!

That's Fantastic!!! I'm sure you know how hard those little guys are to harvest with a bow? I have tried so many times to draw on them and just can't get it done? Great job!!

Re: coyotes with bow?????

It's tough enough to get coyotes with a firearm, let alone archery tackle. Congrats to all who have managed to do so.

I've been fortunate to take two, both times while deer hunting. They came within range without knowing I was hunkered down nearby and I seized the opportunities. The second one I didn't get a picture of but the first one is on this page:

Re: coyotes with bow?????

A bunch of years ago, I took a shot at a grey fox that wasn't 15 yards away from my ground blind. I know we talk alot about deer ducking the arrow, but that critter nearly turned himself inside out before the arrow got there. I couldn't believe it. There was the arrow, stuck in the ground right where the fox had been and it was clean as a whistle without a speck of blood, fat, hair or anything. He didn't duck the arrow....He jumped almost straight up while twisting in mid-air. Now I don't know if coyotes have this kind of instantaneous athletic ability, but I'll bet they could make some of these bow shots pretty interesting. I'll stick to my .222

I've taken two with my bow in the last four years. Actually passed up a big fat doe to take this guy last year. He came into the set up chasing all the deer around then got too close (11 yards) and dropped him.
