Randy {pyledriver} and I hunted today,we started out good on some national grasslands {public land} ,right off we called in a fox, randy passed him for me to shoot with my 870 and I missed ,I know ,I know it's a rare thing ,but it happens bout every 10 years! LOL

we made a couple of dry stands ,then moved to some of my private land! we called and called and called some more ! then just like a few days ago I switched to some coyote sounds, challenge, invitation then coyote distress! a few minutes later I saw something standing about 200 yards away just staring.I couldn't get my camera to focus because of some trash between us and him.I was afraid to move because I thought it was a coyote.I started some rabbit sounds and then coyote distress trying to get it to commit.it finally looked off to the side randy shifted his Remington 870 with a riffled slug barrel in that direction ,but we still couldn't tell what it was.then it just dropped off in the creek bed next ! I went through the sequence again and we waited with the jack rabbit distress playing low! Then about 75 yards away I saw a head sticking up over the creek bank.I was trying to show randy where it was and pull my camera off the tripod to get footage past Randy's big head {it's even bigger now} we both figured out it was a cat at about the same time ! he squeezed the trigger ,but I wasn't on the cat yet! The cat dropped! It was big male,I'm gonna say between 25-30 pounds,I've lost my scales so Randy's gonna weigh him tomorrow!

Re: randy\'s bobcat

Nice cat congrats. I killed one a few years ago while deer hunting that is now sitting in my living room corner, he weighed in at 25#. Have seen a few others while sitting in deer stands, but have yet to call one up. One of these days maybe I will smile.gif
