Re: Patterned my shotgun today.....

It looks like you are shooting a bit low. It's an OK pattern for 25 yards. I think I counted 8 kill zone hits on one target and 4 on the other. Based on these targets you've reached your maximum range at 25 yards in my opinion.

Try adjusting your point of aim a bit and see if you get some improvement. Otherwise try throwing some #5 or #6 shot at it.

Usually #6 shot is good out to +35 yards and #5 out to +40 energy wise if you have sufficient pattern out to those distances.

Good Luck!

What gun/choke are you using? What sighting setup do you have?? I'd think at 25-30 yards you should be getting more hits than you are. I think your first move should be to try bringing your point of impact up a few inches. Second, I'd try some #6 shot (and/or #5s). That should bring your density up, too.

change your sights so you can aim right at the middle of the head, and hit right in the middle of the head. I would also reccomend the 5's or 6's. The Rem 4x6 should be pretty good too. I shot in the head will kill a gobbler better than one in the neck. Try to center your pattern right on there head and you'll do good.

Re: Patterned my shotgun today.....

Sounds like you've got a good setup. I shoot the XXX-Full Comp_N-Choke in all my turkey guns. I think you'll see much improved results with the Supreme #6s. The XXX-Full is a bit tight for good performance with larger shot like the #4s. I believe Comp-N-Choke reccommends #5 & #6 shot, too.

Adjust your sights however you need to so that when you shoot (at whatever part of the turkey you're used to aiming at) your pattern centers on the middle part of the bird's neck. That leaves the top of the dense part of the pattern clubbing his head and the bottom hitting low in the neck. Just make sure you have NO meaningful part of your pattern flying uselessly over his head. Better to bring your sights down a bit and put the bottom part of the pattern on the bird's body.

Please try the Supreme HV #6s through that tube. I doubt you'll be disappointed. wink.gif
