Born2Hunt
Has anyone ever had any experience with the 223 wssm or 243 wssm? If so let us all know.
Guest ronin
Re: WSSM I shoot a Browning A bolt in 243 WSSM. It's a very nice little package and I've taken several hogs and a deer with it so far. I like it.
AJ
Re: WSSM I have read a lot more bad about the WSSM cartridges than good lately. These are on forums with knowledgable reloaders and wildcatters. The brass casings are very hard and do not grab the chamber walls as they should. This creates excessive bolt thrust. I was suprised. Born2Hunt
Re: WSSM looks like I will still consider the 22-250.Thanks AJ!
AJ
Re: WSSM I would definately take a 22-250 or a 220 Swift over a 223 WSSM. Performance is so close to the same you or the prarie dog, groundhog, coyote won't be able to tell which it was hit by.

AJ
Re: WSSM [ QUOTE ] Is this a trait of all wssm's? How about the Wsm's? [/ QUOTE ] Yes and No All WSSM cartridges act the same since they are the same cartridge that is necked to different diameters. The same casing is used. The WSM cartridges do not share this anomaly. The casings are long enough to grip the chamber walls sufficiently.

What I meant to ask was this a trait of one or all shell casing manufacturers. I guess you answered my question anyway. I didn't want to mislead someone else. Born2Hunt and I were talking today and I think he has decided to pursue the 22-250 again.
snapper
Re: WSSM I don't know...I have a .25 WSSM and it shoots good for a factory Winchester. Took two deer with it....no problems or complaints.
