Single-cam easier to draw than dual/hybrids??

Recommended Posts

Not necessarily. A lot of it has to do with the overall cam design. A few years ago, to get speed the draw cycle was typically rough. However, all that has changed in the newer line up of bows out there. The high end bows like the Mathews, Hoyts, and Bowtech are getting high speeds out of silky smooth solos, cam 1/2's, and hybrids. That technology has quickly made its way into the less expensive bows as well. There are some very very nice drawing and shooting bows out there now in the lower end price range.

Unless money is just an absolute factor, don't be afraid to go to a shop and kick the tires on some of the new bows out there. Or even pick up someone's slightly used 2004 or 2005 bow.

Most any of the newer bows will draw smooth as glass in the 50 to 60 pound range.

I agree with Derek. Hybrid cams aren't always more difficult to draw than a single cam. A lot of it has to do with the cam design and the entire bow. I have owned two completely different single cam bows. My Switchback is a lot easier to draw at 70 pounds than my Bear Vapor 300 was at 58 pounds. The cams are very different and the Switchback is smoother overall.

If you think you need a new bow, maybe check out some older ones (2003 or newer) if money is an issue. And also try a few different cam designs.
