Canuck2
Tominator's post (how's the hunting going, teammate?) in the 'hobby' thread inspired me to get busy and write this. Besides the great rewards of harvest and the (debatable?) theraputic value of weeding, I got a real kick from my garden the other day. Each year I put up a 6 1/2 foot herring net fence around my garden area to keep the deer out. This works fine as long as there's plenty of more easily available forage and I remember to keep the gate shut. But a few days ago, I looked out first thing in the morning and a doe had finally found a way in. On the outside was a nice buck frantically running back and forth, trying to figure out how to get in with his girlfriend. He was really almost beside himself running in circles and charging all along the fence one way and then back again. Finally the doe decided she had enough to eat and slipped out, trotting off at a fairly good clip. The buck, of course, was in hot pursuit. I decided later that day to remove the fence for the season and let the deer scoop whatever produce remained.
