Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: We are being invaded!!! Yep - the whitetail bucks are much more agressive breeders. You'll likely end up with a lot of hybrids running around.
johnf
Re: We are being invaded!!! That's a big eared deer with eyeguards that bounces around like tigger.
Guest andymansavage
Re: We are being invaded!!! Actually they can't stott (bounce like tigger) like a normal mulie, and that's why they usually don't live long. That pogo stick jump allows them to change direction at high speed, helping to escape from lions and other predators. They do have strange antler configurations and body traits from both species. Whitey is a much more aggressive breeder in general, ( I have seen videos of mulies fighting to the death) and can have a negative affect on the mulie population, but in many states (idaho, montana, wyoming, nebraska, colorado) both species thrive in the same environment. Only time will tell what happens here,,,,,
MUDRUNNER
Re: We are being invaded!!! I THOUGHT I READ SOMEWHERE THAT A CROSS BETWEEN A MULEY AND A WHITETAIL WAS A BLACKTAIL.I COULD BE MISTAKEN.WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME. wtnhunt
Re: We are being invaded!!! Have read that whitetails are a possible threat to mulies in some areas where they coexist. Whitetails are much more adaptive and are considerably more aggressive. Guess like you say, time will tell.
muggs
Re: We are being invaded!!! Mulies are actually a combination of the blacktail and whitetail. A long, long time ago, the west was all blacktail and the east was all whitetail. Eventually they met near the Rockies and interbred. The muley was the outcome
elkoholic
Re: We are being invaded!!! There was a report, complete with pictures, of a whitetail buck in Utah 7 or 8 years ago. I would think that with the number of whitetails in bordering states that there are more whitetails in Utah than people are aware of. Not to worry, it is just a chance to hunt a different species.
