LETMGROW
I am wondering why Remington seems to be the only manufacturer out there offering DM'S. Some [browning] have mags. you can remove from the dropped floorplate, but I like the removable mag.

doubleA
Re: Detachable magazines Let's not forget the Sako M75's also have them. While I didnt get this one for a true DGR it will do in a pinch. I have accidently dropped the magazine by hitting the latch before on this rifle......lol not something you want to happen if you are after critters that can inflict some hurt on you. It's chambered in the classic 375 H&H. Sorry to get off the topic some. Life is good, Give God the Glory.....AA

LETMGROW
Re: Detachable magazines This brings up a touchey subject. I was looking at guns today and saw a youth model which had no DM or drop floor plate. He or she would have to crank out every round. Don't you think just for this reason alone the DM is a better choice?
AJ
Re: Detachable magazines That is one of the main reasons I will never own a lever action gun. A bolt gun with a blind magazine can be unloaded without locking down the bolt. Just push the bolt far enough forward to allow the cartridge to escape from the magazine then pull the bolt back. On push feed guns you can then just tip it over to remove the cartridge or a controlled round feed action you can use the ejector. It's all in the training. superguide
Re: Detachable magazines A BLR has a removeable magazine.
njbowhntr
Re: Detachable magazines I kinda agree with LETMGROW on this one. I know that people disagree, but let me explain myself. If you look at all the other "drop magazine" guns you have to drop a floorplate. Then the magazine drops out. With the Remington. and the BLR, the magazine is similiar to a pistol, it is exposed. You do not have to perform another function in order to have access to the magazine. Unless you have used the HS Precision's magazine kit. njbowhntr
Re: Detachable magazines Actually I just looked at the CZ website and noticed that some of their rifles do have the exposed magazine. I corrected myself.
AJ
Re: Detachable magazines All of the guns with detachable magazines that are listed above have true detachable magazines, not floorplates. Savage bolt guns with a C in the model designate detachable magazine. A drop floorplate is not a detachable magazine. They are different critters. Been thinking of converting my 700 adl to have a detachable mag.
