AJ
Re: which shotgun I take it you are looking at the Stoeger 2000, the Mossberg 930, and the Beretta 390(1). The Stoeger will be the hardest kicking out of the group as it has an intertia system where the Mossberg and Beretta have gas systems. The Beretta is a plain jane no frills gun, but is probably the highest quality and best pick. If it were a turkey, waterfowl, and deer gun only, I would lean towards the Mossberg 935. If its a do-it-all sort of gun, I would go towards the Beretta.

ilhunter1986
Re: which shotgun how much are you wanting to spend exactly. you should just watth because you can get a reasonable price on a browning gold or winchester sx2 for a reasonable price and they are always having rebates from the manufacturer. Of the choices if you are talking bout the mossberg 935 i would stay away from it completely if your looking for a universal gun because it is not universal. Ive heard nothing but good things bout the stoeger and it has a reasonable price.

ilhunter1986
Re: which shotgun no the mossberg 935 will not correctly cycle your 2 3/4 loads. it is mainly a 3 and 3 1/2 inch gun. in that case i would go with the stoeger
Guest Ritzer
Re: which shotgun well i usually use 3 inch loads anyway, i dont really go quali hunting too much i usually go to a bird plantation and do pheasants where i can still use a 3 inch load here in ga. i think i might go with the mossberg. or the the beretta. AJ
Re: which shotgun [ QUOTE ] well i usually use 3 inch loads anyway [/ QUOTE ] WHY???!! Using 3" on a quail hunt would be a liability not an asset.
too_pointer
Re: which shotgun I have the Mossberg 935, and yes, they say 3" or 3 1/2" shells only. I have talked to a few owners who have told me that theirs would shoot heavy 2 3/4" also, but I wouldn't count on it. From what you want to hunt, I would say its not for you. The 935 also has an overbored barrel to 10 ga. dimensions, and you can't shoot slugs through the standard barrel, only buckshot for deer. I have a Beretta 20 ga. for my light work I think your quail would be sorta dismembered using 3" on them LOL. too_
