I was reading the other post on this gun in 30-06 caliber and had a few questions. What are the main differences b/w the model 700 ADL, BDL, CDL? Theres a 700CDL in my local shop which I might look at getting, its a nice gun I was just wondering what the big differences are between the ADL, BDL and CDL. I was on Remingtons website but didnt see alot of differences.

Re: Another Remington model 700 ?

I could be a little off...but its my understanding that the BDL is the nicest of the three and has no clip. The ADL (which I think they aren't making many if any, any longer) has no hinged plate or detacable clip...have to unload the gun by putting on fire and running the bolt. The CDL is what replaced the ADL which has a detachable clip.

With out looking up...I think those are the biggest differences. The BDL is going to be a little more $ than the rest.

Re: Another Remington model 700 ?

The 700 ADL is a basic model 700. The ADL has a closed magazine, no jeweling on the bolt and a more plain stock. It used to be offered with a walnut stock and blue metal, Laminated stock and blue metal or synthetic stock and matte finished metal. The BDL has a hinged floor plate or detachable magazine, Its stock has a high gloss finish with black grip cap and black forend tip. Both the ADL and BDL have sights, the BDL has a hood on the front sight the ADL doesnt. The ADL and BDL have monte carlo stocks. The CDL(Classic Deluxe) has a classic style stock(no monte carlo butt and is slimmer), it is oil finished instead of gloss. The metal is blue but with a satin finish instead of matte or gloss. It has a hinged floor plate magazine. The barrel is clean(has no sights). These are the main differences, but the ADL has been replaced by the SPS. They all have the famous model 700 action.

Re: Another Remington model 700 ?

Bearcat has the most correct and detailed answer with one exception, the ADL is still availabel from Remington. There was talk about dropping it but it is listed as an exclusive line up of rifles and shotguns available only from your local Remington Premier Dealer.

They all use the same barreled action and trigger. The main differences are in the stocks and finish. Some may have sights where others do not.

Re: Another Remington model 700 ?

Wal Mart still carries some ADL's, and can order them in from their special order catalog if I am not mistaken. They also can order the BDL's.

If you went with an ADL, Cabelas sells a detachable mag kit that will convert your ADL to take detachable magazines.

Thanks for the info.

I may look into that.

I have a 30 yo ADL 30.06 that my father gave me. Not pretty anymore but man its a tack driver.

Not fancy but it can shoot.

Which is all ya neeed if your gonna take it out hunting and not have to worry about bangin the gun on something and marring the stock or bbl.

The only gripe I have is not hinge or clip.
