Beginner handgun, which one?

Unfortunately, concealed carry and hunting pistols are somewhat of a contradiction. With concealed carry you want something relatively small but potent, without a lot of things that can snag on your clothing. Most hunting handguns don't work too well due to the size.

Revolvers are still a great way to go, Your firend might just need a couple!

1. I'd recommend a revolver or a single shot thompson center for big game, and either a semi or a revolver for small game.

2. As someone else said, you better check the laws. I'd be surprised if a haandgun can even be taken home from the gun store in your state.

3. Hunt what?

Deer- 41 mag, .44 mag

bunnies/small game- .22LR,.22wmr, 17 hmr

Quite a bit to think about.

I own a 357 magnum revolver that I take with me when I go hunting but it's really for protection against bear and other uninvited beasts. grin.gif

For my daily concealed carry, I went with a subcompact 40s&w.

I would probibly get 3 guns in this order.

22lr simi like a Ruger Mk II or III, buckmark, or Beretta Neos to practice with and for small game.

A 40 cal simi. to carry. Check out HarvDog's piece, pretty nice.

Then a Ruger Blackhawk or similar 41 or 44 mag. for bigger game.

I have a Ruger mark I that I used to get used to shooting a handgun.

Then I went to a XD-40 SC for a carry gun.

I would reccomend either. Just make sure to get a gun that fits your friend best.
