Guest WisLongbow
My fiance' and I are planning an archery antelope hunt in 2007... picking South Dakota I think due to the availability of tags and the August opener (she's a teacher)... anyone have any inside info as to a landowner who'd rent us a couple of waterholes for the week? Or perhaps an inexpensive outfitter who'd show us around for a day? Any advice would be appreciated. (Including any other state info that would meet our needs). Thanks in advance! Guest AllArmyoutdoorsSD
Re: Inexpensive Archery Antelope 2007 Harding county has a ton of public ground and a few great water holes, I find more antelope hanging around the research zone right up against the slim buttes. there are plenty of maps available and are quite accurate for finding the water holes, just hpe you don't mind walking a little bit. Guest AllArmyoutdoorsSD
Re: Inexpensive Archery Antelope 2007 I suggest looking into public land. Right now there is a pretty big fuss going on in western SD and land owners are in some what of a lock out, some will let you hunt but they are few and far between. I hunt private ground out there and it is on invite only, my family has been hunting the same ground for thirty years, every year we bring out about $ 300.00 worth of produce. Just some ideas for you to try. Good luck
Guest WisLongbow
Re: Inexpensive Archery Antelope 2007 Good idea... didn't consider public land too much, as I didn't want to haul all the way out there to have someone else in my back pocket... I may have to think this out a bit longer. Thanks again.
stevebeilgard
Re: Inexpensive Archery Antelope 2007 wyoming has more antelope than all the other states put together. it also has 51% public land. or you can pay a rancer to hunt for 200-300 dollars. get a copy of the regs, find an area that opens in mid august, and i think you may fare better.
