too_pointer
I haven't tried these before, I couldn't because of using semi-auto's, but now since I have a 25-06 barrel for my Encore, I might try them. Anyone in here have any advice or opinions on them ?? thanks too_
AJ
Re: HORNADY LIGHT MAGNUMS They do give you a tad more velocity...but, its not exactly noticable in the field. The Hornady Custom ammo with a 117 gr bullet exits 2990 fps while the LM with 117 gr exits with 3110 fps. Is 120 fps worth the extra money for the ammo? Realistically, it will give you similar trajectory. The energy is about 100 ft/lbs different at 400 yards. Unless you got a great deal on it, I would not spend the extra money on it unless it made a super improvement in the accuracy. Code: Std LM 100 +2.0" +2.0" 200 +1.0" +1.0" 250 -1.6" -1.0" 275 -3.4" -2.5" 300 -5.6" -4.5" 325 -8.3" -6.8" 350 -11.3" -9.6"

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: HORNADY LIGHT MAGNUMS That's what I shoot in my 30-06, but I use it because I can get the bullet I want (165 gr SPBT) and it gives me good accuracy. I didn't really notice any difference in the long range trajectory. Besides, the 30-06 is just a back up to my beloved 7 Rem Mag!

LETMGROW
Re: HORNADY LIGHT MAGNUMS I think you would be better off putting the extra money toward some reloading equipment and working up a load which you are satisfied with. Then you can build them a little cheaper, shoot more and have a great time doing it.
