M00N
Re: Girlfriend [ QUOTE ] what was a 1" steel wire doing moving across your ankles like that? [/ QUOTE ] The wire was attached to a 100lb German Shepherd who was very athletic to start with. I was trying to untangle her wire lead from around the hookup pole that's pounded in the ground. She had it all tangled up from running in circles and the loop not spinning with her for some reason. She somehow managed to circle around me once while I wasn't paying attention and get the wire across my ankles. Then she noticed a rabbit at the end of the yard and took off full speed towards it. Needless to say I got my feet taken right out from under me and cut down to the bone at the same time. The dog had no clue what was wrong she thought I was laying on the ground playing and started jumping on me licking my face. Just one of those "duh" moments that you regret later. I should have held her collar and made her stand next to me instead of let her run around still while I untangled her. The first 3 minutes I didn't feel any pain but saw the blood and felt the warmth around the wound and knew she got me good. Then after examining it I realized it was cut down to the bone and that I could infact touch my own ankle bone if I wanted to on my one ankle. The other ankle it was close but no exposed bone. Then I had to walk the whole way across the yard and up the steps into the house like that to get someone to take a look at my injury. She was purebred, but just big. She actually wasn't over weight any, just was very tall. By standard she was suppose to turn out around 22 inches to the shoulder and she ended up peaking out at 27 inches. Which is even too big for male German Shepherd. She was a great dog, but because of her abnormal size she ended up having some bad heart problems and died only at 3 years of age. My current German Shepherd is normal sized and weighs about 80lbs. I healed fine from that injury. All that is left is a scar on each ankle. The scar is very noticable, but at least it's on a part of the body that isn't stared at very often normally, unless you're one those feet people. lol
