MUST SEE!!!! BROADHEAD SHOWDOWN

Here it is we tested several kinds of heads including Jak Hammers, Muzzy, Wac'Em, and Nitrons. All shot out of the same bow with the same arrow setup. Only two penetrated the steel the Nitron and the SONIC. The Sonic has lost blades after passing through Making clean blade slices while all the other heads just didn't penetrate or broke the blades off before even making it through. The picture is on the front page of our website just click the link below. Please post replies with any questions, would love to see what guys think. The only head tested in the pic was the Wac'Em read the caption under the picture for details.

Re: MUST SEE!!!! BROADHEAD SHOWDOWN

If you ever try that with the Montec G5's. Make sure you don't just use them out of the package, because it wouldn't be a fair test unless you sharpen them up , ready for hunting like the rest of the broadheads.

They don't come sharpened. wink.gif

Interesting test.

Re: MUST SEE!!!! BROADHEAD SHOWDOWN

Reflex, if you go to yahoo and put in 5shot broadhead test in the search you can see what the slicktricks and a bunch of others do. This guy really puts them thru some stuff. Not taking away from mrinckers tests but 5shot has some pretty cool stuff he does with broadheads. He even shoots them thru steel drums

Re: MUST SEE!!!! BROADHEAD SHOWDOWN

If you go to the first search result that comes up it doesn't charge to see all of those. http://www.american-hunter.com/broadheads/broadhead_test.htm is free. Never mind shoot what you like. I'm starting to regret getting involved in this thread. 5shot is well known in a lot of other forums and his tests are respected and very helpful, just thought some people here would like to look at some of them thats all.

Re: MUST SEE!!!! BROADHEAD SHOWDOWN

Im not sure why this thread got heated the test was simply done for our own sake and thought people may like to see what it did. As far as all the comments on shooting through a steel drum whould you rather us do that to test them or simply test them on deer out of season. The steel is a much more logical bet. Just thought people wouldenjoy seeing it not think I was calling out their broadheads.

hey dont let um get to ya. i think its a good test. a deers shoulder can be a stuff area to get through so its nice to know whats holding up under those conditions!!!!sure i never aim for the shoulder but some times it happens!!!!!!!in my opion you should pick a broad head for what could go wrong and not for what goes right!!!!! i have used spit fires before and killed plenty of deer with them, but i didmess up and I hit a nice mature 9pt in the shoulder and didnt get much penatrion and after 2 days couldnt find him!Granted bad shot i know, but in the back of my mind if i was using fixed head mite have penatraded more and got the buck.who knows!!!!!! i think you should use a fixed head unless you cant get them to shoot out of your bow. check out the tekan there kind of a mix of expandable and fixed!!!!!!!!

Re: MUST SEE!!!! BROADHEAD SHOWDOWN

You know durability is great and is a selling point of broadheads. But, I go for ease of use, tuning, and how well a broadhead flies. It doesn't do me a bit of good if that thing will shoot through five barrels or 2" of steel, if it doesn't fly good. I've shot several different makes of bows, arrows, and broadheads. For the 65-70# draw wieght and 30" draw length range, I've stuck with one combination and it's performed great for me over the years.

Re: MUST SEE!!!! BROADHEAD SHOWDOWN

Snapper interesting reply, All we did was take heads he have shot or our friends have shot over the last few seasons. No we dont go buy theses heads just to shot them, but I will say hunting is 90% mental and confidence is a mental thing. yes shot placement is critical but when you do hit that shoulder we have a lot more confidnece in these heads than what we used to shoot. Thus the mental part of hunting is coming into play. No one plans on a bad shot but when it happens its not going to get us down we will still have faith in finding the animal which is the point if hunting. THe recovery.

No arguments about that...I agree 100%

As far as not buying the heads...if they are new, its still wasting money in my opinion. If they were already shot through a deer and/or target....wouldn't exactly be a fair test because some blades may have been less sharp than others.

Either way....its interesting tests, no doubt....just don't really see the point. Even a bad shot (shoulder blade) a deer's shoulder blade isn't as tough as steel.

Not putting your tests down...I do find them interesting...just don't think its going to change alot of folks minds on what they use now!

well, when the game I shoot starts to wear steel, I guess I'll switch from my Wasp 100 gr. heads, but for now I gues I'll just settle for pass through's

Now that's funny right there.

I have yet to lose an animal with my WASP 125's.
