HarvDog
Anyone have any experience, thoughts, or comments on the Hi-Point C-9 Comp? I have a friend looking at this for occasional shooting and home defense.
Guest Clay008
Re: Hi-Point Handguns I have never heard of this manufacturer before. How did your friend find this company? It is an interesting looking gun. What is the thing on the end of the barrel used for?
Hoosierbuck
Re: Hi-Point Handguns I would not recommend that your friend trust your life to a gun that costs the same as a really good knife. Tell him to invest just a little more and get a used Ruger revolver. At least you know it will work if you need it to, and it won't explode and hurt you. reward
Re: Hi-Point Handguns Ive got a 9mm compact that I haven't had a problem with. Probably got 500 rounds thru it without any hangups. Not the quality of my s&w 38 special but I don't feel bad at all about carrying it.
slugshooter
Re: Hi-Point Handguns To borrow a line from johnf regarding another issue we have been PM'ing each other about. I have heard horrible things about Hi-Point pistols from people who have never held or fired one, and I have heard nothing but good things about them from people who have actually owned and fired them. I own, "reportedly", according to many of the most reputable gun magazines out there today a Springfield XD9 that is comparable to a Glock and is supposed to fire thousands of round without a jam or other malfunctions, but hey, my more expensive, name brand, well known pistol had an extractor completely go to pieces after 500 rounds or so. Does it mean the gun is junk, well, conventional wisdom would say that in my case it was a fluke, things happen etc. etc. etc., in the case of Hi-Point, if the same thing happened, it would be considered junk. Go figure.
snapper
Re: Hi-Point Handguns Well.....here is my $.02! I have a guy interested in getting a Highpoint 40 S&W. Asked me for a price...I called 3 of my wholesalers and none carried them. I asked why...I was told that some states even banned the high point guns because of a low melting point! Sorry...I wouldn't waste my money on a gun (for protection) that cheaply made. JMO.
ZooBear
Re: Hi-Point Handguns My boss stocked them in our shop. We sold about 14 of them the first month. 11 of them were returned. Now we dont carry them either.
