huntinsonovagun
I see where it says 30-80mm zoom (for example) but what does that mean?? I understand digitals and the 10x zoom, but I haven't quite figured out how much zoom something like 30-80mm will get me. Is there a website that explains this? Thanks!! wtnhunt
Re: SLR....what does the 30-80mm mean?? Standard lens on many older 35 mm slr cams was usually a 50 or 55 mm lens. A 30-80 is pretty decent and versatile zoom that will allow you to take some wide angle to not too far off distance shots. I use my 70-210 mm zoom lens when I go out to try to take wildlife pics. I use my 35-70 mm zoom quite a bit with my old minolta, it is a very handy lens, but for far off pics it is really just not enough. Here is a link that will give you ideas of the magnifications of some lenses lense chart . You can pan down to the zooms.
tedicast
Re: SLR....what does the 30-80mm mean?? I mayb e mistaken, but I was told that a 50mm lense captures things as the eye see them. anything lower makes it more wide angle, the higher the number the tighter you can zoom in
LifeNRA
Re: SLR....what does the 30-80mm mean?? 30-80mm means you have a lens that will adjust between 30mm and 80mm. This would be a combination lens of that a wide angle and a short zoom lens! This is exactly correct. [/ QUOTE ] Human eye has the same angle of view as a 50mm lens? False. Many people believe that human eye has the same angle of view as a 50mm lens because 50mm lenses are considered standard and normally come with the camera, or at least they did. To correctly match the human eye you would need about a 60mm lens. Nikkor or Nikon lens came out with a 60mm lens in order to match that of the human eye. Needless to say they were not very big sellers!
