Shotshell question...

Just wanting a few opinions. The local Sportsmans Warehouse just got a huge shipment of Kent Fasteel loads in and the 3"ers are 10 bucks a box. I like to shoot the #3 but here is the question. Which is better the 1 1/8 load charge that shoots 1560 fps or the 1 1/4 that shoots 1425 fps.

Your opinion please.

Hunting will be over decoys on a 4 acre pond--mallards, gaddies, and woodies most common ducks.

thanks

todd

Re: Shotshell question...

I'll echo RTF's comments and recommend patterning both before buying a significant amount.

I don't know what your shooting them through, BUT I have a hunting partner that can't shoot Kent in his SBE. His gun won't cycle them. It seems to be a problem specific to his gun, as another SBE in our group handles them ok.

Maybe we should ask the ducks what one they prefer. grin.gifgrin.gif

and then use the opposite grin.gif

Sounds like a plan! grin.gif

I'd opt for the speed too Todd. A 1 1/8 load at a quicker speed getting there would kill a duck just as dead as a 1 1/4 would, IMO.

Re: Shotshell question...

I shot a case of 3"#3's Kent Faststeel this year and they were awesome...

I don't know which they were but I think they were the 1 1/4 that shoots 1425 fps.

I knocked them cold. Also shot geese with them.

Highly recommend them...

I like to shoot 3" #3's...doesn't matter the brand, or oz. either that or #6's...

Wore them out!

Re: Shotshell question...

actually, i really liked the kent fasteel. personally, i'd choose the 1 1/8 load. don't think i'd give up the extra speed for a couple of bb's
