bowana
Re: 45? The ol' mainstay colt loaded with premium hunting rounds (like a 250GR Nosler) is good for about 75-90 yards. Far furthur than what you would be capable of with standard iron sights as a new shooter with this type of weapon. Nevertheless, good choice and happy hunting! The ruger pistol is a good one! wyote
Re: 45? I've used a Ruger SS Blackhawk for years. I shoot a 300 gr cast bullet that I cast from a custom "mountain mould". The Ruger is a good strong gun, I generally shoot about 1500 to 2500 rounds of heavy loads a year in this pistol. I've taken quite a few game animals at 100 yards with no problem. RangerClay
Re: 45? I have an EMF Hartford in .45 Colt. I have never used it kill deer but I have always wanted to. I have used my yellowboy in .45 Colt to kill deer. When the 250 gr. bullet slams home the deer drop in their shoes Ranger
ODH
Re: 45? ruger makes good guns, but if you want to spend a little extra I'd suggest buying a .44 Mag Stainless w/ a 12 inch barrel and a scope, if you could handel the recoil
Guest littlered
Re: 45? the gun i'm goignt o buy has another purpose, i need a 45 becuase of competitive mounted shooting of from horse back, so it needs to have a mid sized barrel and no scope
hangunnr
Re: 45? The above mentioned Vaquero or one of the Uberti single action .45 Colts should fill the bill nicely. hangunnr
