Guest wthomaslee
I have two questions. First one is can I take down my Rem. 7400 to clean it better? I am wanting to take out the bolt to clean the rifle better than I have in the past. already have the stock and trigger out and see how to take the barrel off but dont want to have any problems like headspace or anything. The second question is can I tumble loaded rounds. I thought I was smart and ordered 500 rounds of brass and had to load them all. That was five or six years ago and the shells I have left are pretty dark but no "white stuff"on them. Just thought I'd ask before I did something stupid. Thanks for any help. AJ
Re: Remington 7400 and loaded rounds Anytime you take the barrel off you need to check the headspacing when it's reassembled. Remington does not recommend that users remove the barrel. If you do break it down farther to do a super clean, I recommend having it checked or re-assembled by a gunsmith. I do not recommend tumbline loaded ammo. You can take a cloth that has some brass cleaner (non amonia) and wipe them down by hand. I wold od so sparingly as if the ignition source gets contaminated, at best its a dud. At worst its a hang fire.
too_pointer
Re: Remington 7400 and loaded rounds I have taken the 7400 apart many times, haven't ever takin the barrel off. The 7400 comes apart very similiar like the Rem. shotgun 11-87. If you haven't done it before, make sure you have the Rem. manual in fornt of you. too_
