Nut
My friend has a coyote problem. The coyotes have killed 2 sheep in the last week at his place. So he wants us to try and get them. I am not a predator hunter and have no experience. So any ideals on how to proceed?
arrow32
Re: Coyote problem Im not the best yote hunter so ill let other people cover this one. Ill say this get you a couple calls like distress and maybe try howling if distress calls dont work. Other guys will have alot more info like i said. This doesnt make alot of sence.lol
Squirrelhunter91
Re: Coyote problem Personally, I think the mating season is over around here. Ohio ain't too far off from NY so it should be over there too. So howling might be out of the question. Distress tactics haven't been working the last few months because of the switch to mating mode. So I guess this time of the year is right smack in the middle. The females should be bred by now and I guess the yotes are just trying to survive until the food is abundant once again in the warmer temps. Try a mix of howling and distress sounds.. see if that works. Otherwise, you might have to hunt over the carcasses if it is legal in your state. Tominator
Re: Coyote problem Down over Chesterhill way, they used to get roadkill deer and stick them near the livestock, then sit and wait while making some rabbit distress calls Fred. Might want to try that. Just watch the wind, yotes are pretty crafty and wary.
