Tom2008
Hey everyone I have been looking at the Protec a lot lately and am thinking about getting one once I have enough money. Does anyone own one here and could you tell me what you think of it? Thanks for anyone who posts back.
Canuck2
Re: Hoyt Protec Hey Tom, you old antler assassin you. I have a Protec and am tickled to death with it. However, it's my target bow - XT3000 limbs and only 50 lb. Very smooth to shoot and very forgiving. If the bow fits you well, I don't think you can go wrong. It is one of Hoyt's higher end bows, not that I've seen any Hoyts lately that I don't like. And before anyone gets their gizzard in a knot, I also have a Mathews and a couple other brands. Are you planning on hunting with it? With the XT2000 limbs, it's not real short but not overly long either. It would be necessary to shoot with a release. It also has a nice brace height. I would avoid the spiral cams; the cam and a half is a great system and you can adjust the draw length without having to press the bow. Let me know what you decide. BOHNTR
Re: Hoyt Protec Tom: I hunt with the ProTec and think it's one of the most forgiving and quietest bow I've shot. Pretty good speed out of it as well.
Tom2008
Re: Hoyt Protec Yeah I would be hunting with it. I have a PSE Deer Hunter right now and want something that shoots faster and quieter. I just got a release for X-mas so I'm all set up with that. Thanks for all the info guys. Tony
Re: Hoyt Protec i have been shooting my 03 Hoyt Protec for indoor competition and for field archery. its very forgiving and super accurate . i dont think you could make a wiser choice. this bow will do everything you want and more . it is a top shooter for Indoor target , awesome accurate for hunting and pretty darn good on the 3d course as well while many bowhunters dont like long axle to axle bows. i think if many shot one they wouldnt hesitate about getting a long axle to axle bow. plus that 8 3/8 inch brace height is just crazy forgiving. its a good choice and you will be more than happy with it.
