Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? 1 push/pull call. The turkeys are so numerous and dumb where I hunt that's all I ever need. As long as the wind isn't howling, it usually doesn't take over 10 - 15 minutes to get one in range. I do own a couple of diaphram calls and a box call, but I almost never use them.
M00N
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? I carry for myself: 1 box call 1 slate call 1 glass call 4 strikers 1 crow call 1 owl call 1 EGG call (on gun) 3 mouth calls I normally don't hunt alone so I toss a couple extra calls in a backpack that comes along with me for the other hunter if they choose to use them. I normally just toss my cheapest box call and a push/pull call in there. When I used to just go turkey hunting to call birds in for people I would just take enough calls for myself to use. Below are some of my calls.
Nut
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? I put quite a few in my vest but by the end of the 1st week there usually only 1 or 2 there between my boys getting them. Oh I lose a couple also. Rhino
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? Hummm.... .....4 slate calls, probably close to 10 strikers, 6 diaphram calls, a power crow call (my spare is on loan), a gobble tube, 1 box call, and all the necessities like chalk, sandpaper, etc. for dressing up calls and strikers. Of course I keep some compact binocs, TP, zip loc bags, extra gloves, mask, hat, knife, clippers, and ammo in my vest too. I probably left out something. Guest Tail_Feathers
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? I carry a box about half the time, but usually two slate types and several mouth calls. This season I'm lightening my load. Three mouth calls, one box and one slate call plus a crow and owl call. That's my plan and I'm sticking to it...until day 2 at least!
PAbowhunter4life
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? Well, here's what will be in the woods with me opening day, well, at least some of it. The Primos Boss Hogg, Woodhaven Comp 3 and all the other Quaker Boy diaphragms I just got aren't in that picture. Oh yeah, neither is the Primos True Double. As soon as I get the digi cam up and running again I'll be sure to take some updated pics of my arsenal ....
Squirrelhunter91
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? You guys have no idea how this thread is getting my blood flowing. All this talk about turkey season... It's 30 days away for me from tomorrow. I cannot wait.... I guess I should be rounding my stuff up then.. huh? This year it looks like I'll be carrying: 5 Diaphragms 1 box call 1 slate/glass 3 strikers 1 trumpet 1 Power Crow Call 1 Owl Hooter Ammo, knife, TP, cell phone, etc... Edit: I also might take a coyote howler out with me this year to see if I can get em to shock gobble with it, but it might make them shut up if it sounds like a predator is in the area. What do you guys think?
tennswamper
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? Squirrelhunter, I've always heard those coyote calls work....but..... I had two start howling opening day here and cost me a bird. Well, he was acting like he was on a string until they happened along. They didn't get real close, no closer than you would with a howler anway. So, I'm sure it works but if it messed one hunt up I would throw it away. Since I didn't have one to throw away, I guess I'll just pass.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? Think of this when you use a coyote call. If you were a turkey and a coyote was an enemy of yours, would you make noise when you heard him? Your dinner to a coyote......something to think about. There is a reason they roost in trees and its not because of the view!! LOL!!

Fullfan
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? 90 % of it goes with me, you never know what they might like. Get 3 calls going at once and it works wonders. Last year my vest weighed in @ 16 lbs. That is with 6 shells, 2 water bottles, bug spray, gps and a small pr of nippers. Guest 257Roberts
Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? Iv'e been slimming down the ole vest these days. I used to carry an arsenal similar to full fan. I learned though that the more you carry the louder you'll be. Nowadays i carry a couple of slates, 4 or 5 strikers, sandpaper, binoculars, hooter, crow, hawk, and a skoal can full of diaphams. got three shells in the pump which should do the trick. Which is still a load to haul up and down these hills and hollars. specially with a 20# bird in the back.
